Our Physicians

David Dobkin, MD

Dr. David Dobkin, a board certified pediatrician, has been practicing pediatrics in Arlington Heights for over 25 years. He established North Arlington Pediatrics in 1990. He graduated with honors in biology from Washington University in St. Louis followed by medical school at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Dr. Dobkin completed his internship and residency at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago and was then selected as Chief Pediatric Resident at Children's Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Dobkin is a clinical assistant professor of Pediatrics at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and is the Vice President of the Ann & Robert Lurie Childrens Hospital Medical Staff.

Special medical interests include Attention Deficit Disorder, Down Syndrome, and helping to provide a medical home for children with special needs. He is a past Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Northwest Community Hospital. He has served on advisory boards for the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) Alliance of Illinois as well as chaired medical committees at Northwest Community Hospital and local elementary schools and summer camps. He is a member of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association. Dr Dobkin is currently the President of the Lurie Children's Hospital Medical Staff Association.

Outside of the office Dr. Dave enjoys being with his wife and four children and cheering on every Chicago sports team..

Beth Sullivan Walsh, MD

Dr. Walsh, a native of Evanston, Illinois, joined North Arlington Pediatrics in 1990. She received a Bachelor of Science in Pre-professional Studies, with honors, from the University of Notre Dame and earned her medical degree at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Following medical school, she completed her Pediatric Residency at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago. She is a board certified pediatrician and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.

She enjoys guiding and encouraging mothers about the various aspects of breastfeeding, including transitioning back to work. She advises parents on caring for every phase of childhood, from newborn to young adulthood. Dr. Walsh takes care to help parents in their children's everyday behavioral concerns, including sleep issues, potty-training, school concerns, and peer relationships. She is a past Chairperson of the Department of Pediatrics at Northwest Community Hospital and has served on numerous leadership committees at NCH.

She lives in Arlington Heights with her husband and five children. In addition to her part-time work and home, Dr. Walsh volunteers as room parent for her children's classes and serves as a health advisor to an Arlington Heights school. She has also been a guest speaker at local community groups addressing health issues. In her spare time, Dr. Walsh enjoys downhill skiing with her family.

Timothy Geleske, MD

Dr. Geleske is a board certified pediatrician, practicing with North Arlington Pediatrics since 1993. He received his Bachelor of Science in Economics at Northwestern University. He is a 1989 graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine. He received his post-graduate training at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago where he also served as Chief Pediatric Resident. He is a member of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Geleske is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. He has served on several AAP committees for medical home initiatives and newborn screening. He advocates that "every child deserves a medical home" - primary medical care that is accessible, continuous, comprehensive, family-centered, coordinated, compassionate, and culturally effective. He has represented the AAP on the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Service's Advisory Committee on Hereditable Disorders in Newborns and Children, and has served as Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Northwest Community Hospital. He currently is a member of the State of Illinois Governor’s Advisory Committee on Metabolic and Genetic Diseases.  He is a member of the Board of Directors of Lurie Children’s Health Partners and Children’s Community Physicians Association.

Dr. Geleske is married and the father of three boys. He is a member of the Board of Directors for HERE in Barrington, a coalition of youth, parents, and community members to promote positive mental health and reduce the occurrence of suicide and other harmful behavior. He also enjoys golf, downhill and cross country skiing and other outdoor pursuits.

Kristen Brown, MD

Dr. Kristen Brown, a board certified pediatrician, grew up in Palatine, Illinois. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science in Pre-professional Studies. She then attended medical school at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and graduated magna cum laude in 1995. She completed her post graduate training in pediatrics at Children's Memorial hospital. Upon completion of residency in 1998, she was thrilled to return to the northwest suburbs to practice pediatrics at North Arlington Pediatrics. Dr. Brown is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.

Her special interests in pediatrics are nutrition and obesity. She enjoys guiding parents through each stage of their children's development-from breast-feeding newborns, toddler behavior, and school concerns to the sensitive changes of puberty and adolescence. Dr. Brown also serves as a health advisor to an Arlington Heights school and speaks about health issues to local children's groups.

In addition to her part-time work at NAP, she enjoys reading, running, and the joys and challenges of raising four children with her husband Dave. She is a room parent for her children's classes and often helps in the classroom. Dr. Brown believes that "being a pediatrician makes me a better mom and being a mom makes me a better pediatrician."

Andrew Peters, MD

Dr. Andrew Peters, a board certified pediatrician, has been with North Arlington Pediatrics since 2003. He was raised in New Jersey and moved to Chicago over 20 years ago. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy in 1987, at Northwestern University. He attained a Master of Science in 1989 studying molecular biology and molecular genetics at the University of Illinois at Chicago. After several years of conducting basic research at the University of Chicago in the fields of molecular genetics and molecular biology, he attended medical school at the University of Chicago in 1996 and then completed a residency at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

Dr. Peters served as Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Northwest Community Hospital. He also has served on multiple committees at NCH:Chairperson of the Pediatric Medicine Ward Committee , Physician Advisory Committee on Electronic Health Records, Medical Records Committee, and the Perinatal Medicine Subcommittee. He is also a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Peters is married and the father of two girls. Outside of the office, Dr. Peters enjoys spending time with his golden retrievers, outdoor activities, hiking, cycling (completed the 400 mile AIDS ride), running, home renovation, nature, and gardening.

Michele Lawhun, MD

Dr. Michele Lawhun was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, where she attended Wright State University for both undergraduate and medical school. She completed her pediatric residency training at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, Florida; where she was awarded resident of the year for both the pediatrics program and the graduating residency class of 2006. She is board certified in pediatrics. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.

She has served as a guest speaker on lactation and other issues. She has a particular interest in working with young people and mentoring students. Locally, she has presented to area high schools about careers in medicine.

She and her husband relocated to the Chicago area upon completion of her training, and has been at North Arlington Pediatrics ever since. She enjoys cooking, arts and crafts, sewing, home renovation and fixing anything around the office that is broken.

Nan Walicki, MD

Dr. Walicki is a native of Chicago's western suburbs. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 1998. She attended Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and graduated with honors in 2002. She completed her pediatric residency at University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital. After residency, she was a hospitalist in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at Northwestern Memorial Prentice Women's Hospital where she took care of premature and sick infants. Dr. Walicki, a board certified pediatrician, was happy to then join North Arlington Pediatrics. She is a member of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Walicki enjoys seeing patients of all ages. She continues to have a special interest in taking care of preterm infants after their hospital discharge. As a mother of three young children, she relates well to new parents as they move through each phase of their baby's growth and development. In particular, she focuses on helping parents create a safe and healthy environment for their children. At NAP, she is also active in developing educational information to complement patient visits.

When she is not at work she enjoys being with her husband and three children. Dr. Walicki plays the flute and piccolo (she is a proud Notre Dame Marching Band alum), enjoys tennis, swimming, as well as other outdoor activities.

Suzanne Alfano MD

Dr Suzanne Alfano graduated with honors from the  University of Notre Dame in 2009 with her Bachelor of Arts in Theology and Pre-Professional Studies. She then attended Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tn and graduated in 2013. She completed her pediatric residency at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. During that time, she was awarded the Resident Teaching Award. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is a board certified pediatrician.

She enjoys taking care of children of all ages and helping teenagers transition to adulthood. As a mom, she identifies with the multiple demands on families and enjoys empowering each family to find their own healthy balance. Dr. Alfano and her family have recently moved from the city to the Northwest suburbs. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and keeping up with her active toddler. She has always had a special interest in photography and loves hiking and traveling in her free time.

NIkki Lam MD

Dr. Nikki Lam received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at University of California - Los Angeles in 2016. She then attended medical school at Northeast Ohio Medical University and graduated with honors in 2020. She completed her pediatric residency at the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. She is a member of both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association.

 Dr. Lam was born and raised in Macau, China, and moved to Rochester, NY at the age of 12. She is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese, and is passionate about improving the availability of language concordant care through education and practice. 

 When she is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her partner John and her corgi named Panko, growing vegetables and flowers in the garden, and traveling with her family.
