Classic Children's Books REWRITTEN for Today's Kids

A few days ago I heard a wonderful segment on the radio's BBC World News Hour about children's book author, Michael Morpurgo. He has an ongoing project to curate a growing body of classic literature rewritten for today's kids with the intention to grab their interests to create a life-long joy of reading. Look for some of these selections to read to or with your children, aged 7-13 years.

Although I had trouble finding the link to the original BBC podcast, I encourage you to review this article describing his project: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/2016/06/18/michael-morpurgo-makes-short-work-of-some-classic-stories/.

If you share the excitement I felt in discovering literature classics rewritten for kids, the following links may allow you some success in finding books from Murpurgo's "Greatest Stories" collection in your favorite books store, online or at your local public library. Ths is where the reference librarian can really help find the rewritten classic. Please let me know what success you have with these classics and your children.
