Influenza Increasing in GA

We are beginning to see an increase in influenza activity both in Georgia and throughout the country. This is a great reminder that if you haven’t already gotten your family immunized against Flu, it's not too late to get vaccinated against the flu!

The Flu indicator for Georgia during Week 47 of 2014 was LOW_5, on a scale of 1 to10.  There have been TWO confirmed influenza-associated deaths so far this Influenza season.  Last year at this time (week 47), Georgia had an Flu intensity indicator of MINIMAL_1, on the scale of 1to10.  At this time last year there had been NO confirmed influenza-associated deaths.

So the flu season is off to a steady start with an intensity that is measurably greater than this time last year. Does this mean that this year's entire influenza season will be more severe than last year's flu season. I don't know! But maybe!

I will continue to post info as it becomes available. Stay tuned.
