Important Announcement re: After Hours Advice Line

As you know medical costs continue to climb and we are currently confronted with the need to change, and pay significantly more for, our after hours advice calls.  We are committed to providing thorough and timely medical advice for your family, including after hours.

After an extensive search and review process, we are pleased to announce that starting on 2/1/24 we, along with all UBCP-affiliated practices, will be offering after hours advice through a new group, Anytime Pediatrics.

When our office is closed, including on holidays, you may call Anytime Pediatrics for advice at (623) 663-1707. As before, if your child needs an after-hours appointment, appointments can be made at GoHealth in Oakland. One important change to note is that we will bill your insurance for these calls, and that these calls may be subject to a co-pay, co-insurance, or deductible, if not covered by your insurance.

Prior to making an after-hour call, the providers at Berkeley Pediatrics recommend that you look up your child’s symptoms on the AAP website healthychildren.org symptom checker:

Testing during Omicron Surge

Important information re: testing and Omicron surge (Updated 1/21/2022)

Due to the recent surge of the Omicron variant, we are making some changes re: testing due to limited resources:

1.  All patients getting COVID testing here at BPMG will need to sign up for a MyChart account.  Results will be available through MyChart only.

2.  We are unable to offer testing for asymptomatic patients even with a history of exposure due to limited personal.  We will resume offering testing when we have the manpower to do so.  Also please note that our PCR testing results are taking up to 8 days to come back.

3.  If you have a positive home antigen, please assume that you have COVID-19 infection.  There is NO NEED to confirm with a PCR.  Testing with a PCR or with more rapid tests are needlessly consuming resources.

We encourage ALL of families (EVEN if you are vaccinated and boosted) to be especially careful with their exposures in the upcoming weeks during this surge.

Consider upgrading your and your child's mask to a KN95 or KF94 mask.  There are several online companies that do make smaller child sized KN 95 and KF 94 masks now.

Limit ALL social gatherings and try minimize indoor exposures with folks outside of your family.
