Dr. Cohen was born and raised in New York. He attended Boston University where he graduated with Cum Laude honors in 1986. He received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree in 1990 from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine and completed a residency in reconstructive foot and ankle surgery from Kern Hospital for Special Surgery in Warren, Michigan in 1992. Dr. Cohen was a member of Pi Delta Honor Society and Pi Mu Delta Honor Society receiving academic honors in all four years of Podiatric medical school graduating Magna Cum Laude. During his residency, Dr. Cohen lectured as well as demonstrated foot and ankle surgery to colleagues in England.
Dr. Cohen is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and the American Academy of Wound Management. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine, an Associate of the American College of Podiatric Sports Medicine, a member of the American Diabetes Association Council on Foot Care, the American Podiatric Medical Association, and a member of the Michigan Podiatric Medical Association.
