Covid-19

We at San Pedro Pediatric Medical Group truly care about you and your children.  Given the current public health pandemic of COVID-19 caused by the novel coronavirus, we recommend that you practice physical distancing and stay at home with your loved ones.  Avoid large gatherings or places where people congregate including churches, schools, restaurants, and malls.  Symptoms of coronavirus include fever, cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing, and shortness of breath.  Abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of taste or smell are less common symptoms sometimes seen in children.  If your child has any of these symptoms, please call our office so we can advise you on what to do.  For most illnesses and exposures, the best advice is to stay home and self-isolate.  Please call us to get advice on how to take care of your child at home.  We are available 24/7 through our office during the day (310-832-6487) and our answering service (310-626-6120) when the office is closed.  If you/we decide that your child should be seen, we will help you make the best and safest decision as to where.  If you need to visit the emergency room, please bring 2 adults so your child can wait in the car while an adult checks in and is advised on the safest method of waiting.

Please practice good infection control practices.  Wear a mask or face covering when out in public.  Wash your hands frequently (we recommend washing with soap and water for at least twenty seconds) and use alcohol based hand sanitizer.  Cough and sneeze into your elbows instead of your hands.  Avoid touching your face unnecessarily.  Refrain from shaking hands for the time being.

We are monitoring the situation carefully and will update you with any changes.  Right now, we will continue our normal business hours.  We will continue to see well children and give age-appropriate vaccinations.  We are going to expand our well child hours by an additional hour on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  However, for your safety and the safety of others we are not going to allow ill patients to walk in without speaking to us first.  For all children, we are going to screen you and your child for fever, cough, and potential exposures before entering our office.

Please practice safe physical distancing and good hygiene.  Again, we will always be available by phone (the best and safest method of care for you and others at this difficult time) for you and your family.
