Endoscopy In Calabasas, CA

Digestive problems can happen to anyone at any age. When you’re plagued with stomach pains and cramps, loss of appetite or recurring nausea, your best bet is to visit a qualified gastroenterologist who can quickly identify the cause of your symptoms so you can get the relief you deserve. Dealing with digestive problems, particularly persistent ones, can be distressing and stressful. Dr. Gholami and the team at Calabasas Advanced Gastroenterology are dedicated to finding the answers to our patients’ GI problems. In many cases, an endoscopy may be the most effective diagnostic tool we have for determining what’s going on in your upper digestive tract.

What is an endoscopy?

An endoscopy is a diagnostic procedure that is using by a gastroenterologist to be able to properly examine the upper GI tract. To perform an endoscopy, Dr. Gholami and his team will gently guide the endoscope, a thin tube, down the esophagus into the stomach and upper intestinal tract.

At the end of the endoscope is a camera, which allows our team to be able to get a more up-close and personal view of the digestive tract lining. This outpatient procedure can last anywhere from 15 to 45 minutes and is performed while the patient is under sedation. Patients will be able to go home after this procedure.

What can an endoscopy detect?

There are many reasons why Dr. Gholami may recommend getting an endoscopy. This procedure can help us determine the root cause of your,

  • Nausea
  • Bloating
  • Vomiting
  • Swallowing problems
  • Recurring heartburn
  • Upper abdominal pain and cramping
  • Digestive bleeding

It can also be used to detect,

  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERS)
  • Cancerous growths and tumors
  • Ulcers in the duodenum, esophagus or stomach
  • Narrowing of the esophagus (called an esophageal stricture)
  • Celiac disease
  • Anemia
  • Hiatal hernias

If you are dealing with severe or recurring digestive problems and you’re not sure what’s going on, it’s time to turn to a gastroenterologist who can provide you with answers. The team at Calabasas Advanced Gastroenterology can perform a simple endoscopy to determine the cause and then provide you with a treatment plan to help you feel better quickly.
