Dr. Sigle

Dr. John Sigle, DPM

Principal Investigator

Dr. Sigle is an advanced foot and ankle surgeon and founder of the Foot & Ankle Center of Illinois. Dr. Sigle received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Illinois, Urbana, Champaign. He completed one-year of graduate studies in biology at Illinois State University, Normal, IL. He received his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine from Dr. William Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, Chicago, Illinois.

He served a three-year podiatry and surgical residency at Botsford General Hospital, Farmington Hills, Michigan (affiliate of Michigan State University); and an advanced fellowship in advanced reconstructive ankle and foot surgery/ trauma at Kaiser Foundation Hospital, San Francisco Bay Area, California.

Dr. Sigle served as an advanced surgeon for the Orthopedic Center of Illinois, Springfield, Illinois; and was a clinical assistant professor at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, Division of Orthopedics, Springfield, Illinois. Dr. Sigle is the founder of FACI Clinical Research. As Medical Director for FACI Clinical Research and principal investigator, he oversees all research efforts.


Dr. Gonzalez

Dr. Grant Gonzalez, DPM

Principal Investigator

Dr. Gonzalez is an Advanced Foot and Ankle Surgeon and Associate at the Foot & Ankle Center of Illinois. He is also a principal investigator at FACI Clinical Research.

Dr. Gonzalez received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology Medical Sciences from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Edwardsville, Illinois. He received a doctorate in Podiatric Medicine at Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, Des Moines, Iowa.

He served a three-year podiatric and surgical residency at DeKalb Medical Center, Decatur, Georgia. During residency, he was Chief Resident and President of the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics & Medicine Student Club.

Dr. Gonzalez is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery for Foot and Reconstructive Rearfoot & Ankle. He lectures at the Podiatry Institute, DeKalb, Georgia. 

Dr. Matthew Shirani, MD

Clinical Research Coordinator 

Matthew Shirani, MD, is an ECFMG certified medical professional and principal research coordinator for FACI Clinical Research. He received his Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology from University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). 

Dr. Shirani earned his medical degree at the American University of Antigua, College of Medicine.  He completed his medical courses in Antigua and his clinical studies in New York, Georgia, Maryland, and Illinois.

Dr. Shirani served on the faculty at Vocational Nursing PRQ, Freemont California; and was an adjunct faculty member for the Biology Division at Chandler-Gilbert Community College, Chandler, Arizona.

Dr. Shirani served as a clinical trial assistant then clinical research coordinator at Broadway Medical Center, Melrose Park, Illinois.

He conducted research at Rush University Medical Center, Neurology Research Department, Chicago, Illinois; and at the University of Illinois Ecology & Evolution Laboratory, Chicago, Illinois.

Evan Warrington, CRC

Clinical Research Coordinator 

Evan Warrington is a Clinical Research Coordinator for the Foot and Ankle Center of Illinois Clinical Research team operating in Springfield and Decatur.

Born and raised in Springfield, Illinois, he graduated from Sacred Heart Griffin High School. Evan went on to attend the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign in-person and UI-Springfield remotely studying Psychology and Communications for his college education.
