Dr. Sam Koth is a graduate of South Dakota State University and Creighton University School of Dentistry. Dr. Koth grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota and began practice in Rock Valley in 2010. In 2013, Dr. Koth purchased Rock Valley Dental and built a new office for its location on Hwy 18 in 2017.
Dr. Koth has a strong commitment to learning through continuing education and is a member of the Spear education community, and Pankey Institute. He has completed numerous courses in advanced training at The Pankey Institute and in 2019 completed his Mastership with the Academy of General Dentistry. This mastership program requires over 1100 continuing education hours in multidisciplinary dentistry over 5 years, and only 2% of dentists obtain this status. Dr. Koth, after years of airway and sleep education also completed his diplomacy in Dental Sleep Medicine in 2021 through the ABDSM.
Dr. Koth also has a strong passion for airway/sleep dentistry and is involved in bringing awareness on this topic through various study groups and colleagues. Dr. Koth has specialized training in oral appliance therapy for TMD/TMJ, and his office is one the first practices in northwest Iowa to offer myofunctional therapy options to his patients. Dr. Koth is a member of the American Dental Association, Iowa Dental Association, American Academy of Physiological Medicine and Dentistry, Foundation for Airway Health, and Academy of General Dentistry, and Sioux City Dental Society.
Dr. Koth, his wife Katy, and children Peter, Davy, Roc, and Rosalyn, reside in Rock Valley. In his free time, Dr. Koth enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, golfing, sailing catamarans and reading to expand his knowledge. Dr. Koth’s true passion is dentistry, and he is proud to serve Rock Valley and the surrounding area’s dental needs.
