We pride ourselves in being an exceptional clinic where your kids come first. Our practice works hard to meet the needs of children from infancy through college. Compassionate, knowledgeable and supportive staff is the cornerstone of TAPAC’s quality care. All of our pediatricians and medical staff are highly trained and professional specialists, maintaining the highest level of accreditation in pediatrics to address the special needs of infants, children and teens.

Dr.Sarah Mulder
Dr. Mulder grew up in central Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine. She completed her residency at the Cleveland Clinic Children’s Hospital where she stayed on for chief resident position. She has worked caring for children in Traverse City since 2009 and has been with TAPAC since they opened in 2011. Dr. Mulder enjoys caring for newborns and has a special interest in breastfeeding as well as preventative medicine. She also loves her school aged and adolescent patients as well as the special challenges they sometimes present. Like all of the providers at TAPAC, Dr. Mulder understands the importance of child and adolescent mental health and has years of experience caring for patients with ADHD, depression, anxiety and autism.
Dr. Mulder lives in Traverse City with her two school aged children. She enjoys reading and music as well as being outside biking with her kids, gardening and running.

Dr.Karla Smith
Her medical training includes both a pediatric residency and fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University. In addition to being board certified in pediatrics, she has also earned certification through the American Board of Pediatrics, Sub-Board of Pediatric Pulmonology from 1992- 2006. Dr. Smith cares for many of our areas’ children with pediatric lung disease. Dr. Smith has one adolescent son. She enjoys outdoor sports, gardening, and cooking.

Dr.Benjamin Hazen
Originally from North Canton, Ohio, Dr. Hazen earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh and completed residency training at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. In 2021, he relocated to Traverse City, Michigan and joined TAPAC. Dr. Hazen loves taking care of children of all ages. He and his wife have two active young children and two loveable kittens. He enjoys spending time with family, gardening, biking, hiking, and cooking.

Dr.Megan Coggon
Dr. Coggon, a Traverse City native, received her medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit and completed her pediatric residency training at Washington University’s Saint Louis Children’s Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri. She moved back to Northern Michigan in 2017 and spent four great years in Charlevoix working in outpatient pediatrics as well as providing inpatient hospital care. Dr. Coggon loves her job as a general pediatrician and enjoys being able to participate in patient care from newborns through young adulthood. She and her husband are both excited to be back to their mutual hometown and share the great experiences they had growing up with their own young children now. Outside of the office, Dr. Coggon is an avid reader, enjoys hiking and loves treasure hunting in thrift and antique stores.
Staff Information
All of our nurses are fully trained pediatric specialists and can answer any of your questions. In addition, nurses can help you schedule your next appointment provide procedure authorizations and specialist referrals as needed.
Our certified biller can answer questions about insurance coverage and assist you in obtaining payment authorization from your provider.
Friendly and knowledgeable receptionists are available keep you and your child at ease during your visit. They have all the information required to ensure a quality visit and assist you with your billing.
