It is a well-known fact that the impressions created in the mind of a child last forever. This was true in my case. I was born in India, and as a child I was impressed by the lifesaving potential that doctors have. As a result I developed a passion for this profession.

I graduated from Osmania Medical College, which is among the top medical colleges in India. I believe that my extensive education served me well for my success in the medical field. During my medical education, I participated in various community welfare programs like Pulse Polio Immunization and Small Family Norm. I was also an active member of BHUMI, an NGO, in which and I used to attend the health camps conducted in (impoverished communities) the slums on weekends.

I did my residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Chicago, where I did an award-winning research work on Necrotizing Enterocolitis in Low-Birth-Weight Infants. I was published in a peer reviewed journal in an NIH funded study on “Defective mucosal movement at the gastroesophageal junction in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease”.

Even before I started my medical school, I knew I wanted to work with children, and I believe in treating my patients the way I treat my own kids. It is their innocence which draws me to them. I believe a pediatrician has a tremendous long-term impact on the physical, emotional and cognitive development of a child from birth to adulthood. Being a pediatrician gives me the opportunity to educate children and their parents about preventive care, environmental and social factors. I believe educating about topics such as lead poisoning, childhood obesity, smoking, sexually transmitted diseases and teen pregnancy can lead to better health for an individual and to a better society.

I am happily married with 2 kids, and I love to spend time with them outdoors. I also actively participate in local community activities. My hobbies include dancing and singing and on rainy days I like to get cozy on my couch and watch a movie while enjoying popcorn.
