Dental Bridges

If you have a gap in your mouth where teeth used to be, don’t fret. Although it can be embarrassing if you are missing multiple teeth, it’s not a situation that is impossible to fix; your dentist might recommend a dental bridge to complete your beautiful row of teeth. Dental bridges are fixed porcelain pieces that are permanently joined in a row, and can be supported by natural teeth with crowns on them. They look and feel like your natural teeth.

Bridges may be made from metal or they may be metal covered with a thin layer of porcelain to appear more natural. They may also be crafted entirely from porcelain by an experienced technician to produce a bridge that is very similar in appearance to your own teeth.

Your dentist may recommend a bridge if you have only a few teeth missing. It is important to replace missing teeth even if you are not concerned about your appearance because the gap allows the remaining teeth to drift out of position. This may eventually affect their function.

The teeth adjacent to the space are prepared. Your dentist then fixes or bonds the bridge containing the false teeth onto your prepared teeth so the false teeth fill the space.
