Elliot Rubin, MD, FAAP received his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Rochester and his MD from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. He completed four years of Pediatric Residency and Chief Residency at the University of California San Francisco.
Dr. Rubin is owner and executive manager of his group practice, University Pediatric Associates, PA located in Highland Park and East Brunswick. He joined the practice in 1985 after finishing his residency. He is Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and has received recognition for his service to the department on several occasions. He attends at Bristol-Myers Squibb Children’s Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and the Children’s Hospital at St. Peter’s University Hospital. Dr. Rubin is the current Vice President of the St. Peter’s University Hospital Medical Executive Committee which he has served on for two decades and is Co-Chair of their Newborn Nursery Committee.
Dr. Rubin is a recent Past President of the New Jersey Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (NJAAP) after having served as the chapter’s District Councilor, Secretary/Editor, Treasurer, Vice President-elect and Vice President. His passions include patient education and messaging especially about immunizations and obesity, disaster preparedness efforts, statewide advocacy, and helping to develop the curriculum for the chapter’s Annual, School Health and Resident Career Day Conferences. Dr. Rubin is the recipient of the NJAAP's 2017 "Pediatrician of the Year" Award.
Dr. Rubin’s activities at AAP National include being the former District III Chapter Forum Management Committee Representative for the AAP’s Annual Leadership Forum. He is also a member of the AAP National’s Sections on Administration & Practice Management (SOAPM), Telehealth Care (SOTC), Infectious Diseases (SOID), Senior Members (SOSM), Obesity (SOOb) and the Councils on School Health (COSH) and Clinical Information Technology (COCIT).
Dr. Rubin lives in Highland Park with his wife, Joan and their poodle Maggie. They have two grown sons. He enjoys cycling, kayaking, winter sports, and woodworking as well as being an amateur farmhand and lumberjack in Vermont
