Dr. John Steinwedel has extensive training and experience in complex reconstructive dentistry. We can repair anything from severely worn teeth to multiple missing teeth and restore your smile and ability to chew comfortably. Dr. Steinwedel graduated from Bradley University with a B.A. in Chemistry and earned his dental degree from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. Throughout his time in practice, he has had an intense interest in helping people solve their dental problems. In order to be equipped to do this, Dr. Steinwedel regularly attends excellent continuing education programs. After completing programs by one of his mentors, Dr. Peter Dawson, he continued his education at the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Study . Following completion of the continuums there, he was invited to join their visiting faculty. Along this journey, he began a series of courses with Dr. Mark Piper. Today, Dr. Steinwedel is involved with regular study club meetings led by Dr. Piper and continues to enhance his understanding of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) function and pathology because he believes the TMJ is the foundation for proper function of the entire dentition. He also believes that, for a restorative dentist, the knowledge of the TMJ is a necessity. Dr. Steinwedel has teamed with oral surgeons, orthodontists, periodontists, and endodontists to create outstanding restorative results for his patients. Dr. Steinwedel is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Equilibration Society (AES), and the Chicago Dental Society. He currently serves as a board member with the Illinois State Dental Society and is a past president of the Peoria District Dental Society.
