Angiomas

An angioma is a benign growth consisting of small blood vessels. They can be seen anywhere on the body. Some types include spider angiomas and cherry angiomas.

Cherry angiomas may be due to genetic disposition and aging. Spider angiomas are more common in pregnancy and childhood, but may occur throughout life. When they occur in larger numbers, they may be a sign of a liver disorder or hereditary conditions.

Angiomas may be treated if bothersome, bleeding, or for cosmetic reasons. The gold standard, stae-of-the-art method is laser treatment, which uses a beam of light with a specific wavelength. Laser is safe, effective, and easily performed in our office.
