How To Prepare for Your Child’s Well-Visit: What To Expect
posted: Sep. 13, 2024.
A routine well-visit can keep your little one healthy. But we’d like to stress the importance of visiting Pediatrics of Central Florida in Kissimmee, Orlando, Poinciana/Kissimmee and St. Cloud, FL, to stay informed about your child’s health.
At these, we provide patient education and can detect problems early. We can monitor any chronic conditions carefully. We’d also like to put your mind at ease with detailed information.
Visits Change Based on Age
Your little one’s appointment will vary based on their age. For instance, little ones who can’t stand up will use a lay-down scale. At about four years old, we’ll start vision screening. The hearing test will change based on your child’s age. Once they can understand and communicate, we’ll use a test that consists of wearing headphones and identifying if they hear a beep and where it’s coming from.
Monitoring Growth and Development
All children develop at different rates, some quicker and some faster. Others may have periods of rapid growth and development in certain areas that will sometimes slow.
However, specific rapid or slow growth or development areas could signify an underlying issue.
First Visit Takes Longer Than the Rest
While we aim to get you in and out while still spending enough time with you and your youngster, we make the process as quick as possible because we understand your time is valuable.
We want to stress that your first visit to one of our offices in Kissimmee, Orlando, Poinciana/Kissimmee and St. Cloud, FL, is the longest. During your child’s well-visit appointment, you must complete a full medical history report about your kid. At all subsequent visits, you may just update the information as needed.
Patient Education
Regardless of your child’s age, a well-visit will include patient education. We’ll educate you about any information you need to know to care for your child at their current age. We’ll educate you about safety, health, wellness, and more.
Time for Questions
While we do our best to educate you properly, we understand we may not cover everything. There may be information we didn’t cover that you’re curious about, or you may have specific questions related to your child. At the visit, no matter your child’s age, you’ll have time to ask us questions at any point.
