Work-in or Same Day Sick Appointments
A common misconception is a difference between an "appointment" and a "work-in" or "same day sick" visit.

An appointment is made in advance by scheduling a specific time to see a specific doctor. These are usually well-child or physicals, rechecks, or medication follow-up visits.

A "work-in" or "same day sick" visit is scheduled on the same day as the appointment, due to your child's illness. We discourage patients from walking in without calling first as the wait is often significant, and you may be asked to return at a later time during that day. Only a true emergency will be an exception. Same day sick visits can be canceled or rescheduled 1 hour prior to appointment time without being charged.

After Hours and Emergencies
After regular and urgent care hours during the week or on weekends and holidays, we have a 24-hour answering service. The message is immediately forwarded to the TeleKids Nursing Staff provided by Arnold Palmer Hospital who will return your call as soon as possible. Please leave your phone line free so the nurse can get back to you. Please remember that the nurse is not in our office with your chart in hand. A portion of the fee TeleKids charges our office for their services is passed on to the patient.

Payment Options
Payment is expected at the time services are rendered. The fees you incur as a result of services are your responsibility and obligation. Fees vary with the nature of the visit and the procedures being performed.

Please provide us with a valid insurance card at all office visits so we may verify coverage. We do not file to secondary insurances, but will provide you with an itemized receipt. If your insurance requires a co-pay or has a deductible, payment is expected at each visit.

Referrals
An appointment with one of our doctors may be required in order to see a specialist. Some insurance companies only require a written script from your PCP (primary care physician). Others require both a doctor's script and on insurance referral. The specialist you choose must be contracted with your insurance company. We do not make this rule, your insurance company does. Please make your appointment with the specialist after receiving the written script and then notify the referral coordinator of the date and time. We will need 2-5 working days to generate an insurance referral. Do not wait until the day of your appointment as we may not be able to obtain your referral.
