Skin Cancer Treatment Options
posted: Oct. 22, 2018.
Not all skin cancer is as serious as melanoma. The most common skin cancers, basal cell and squamous cell are, with some exceptions, very rarely at risk of metastasizing, and procedures less invasive than Mohs surgery can certainly be considered as treatment options.
Just like the orthopedic surgeon who doesn't know how to recommend anything for a bone problem other than surgery, a Mohs surgeon is likely to consider Mohs surgery as the only option to treat many of these low-risk skin cancers.
Don't be fooled by some practices using scare tactics to get you not to consider other less invasive treatments, such as SRT (superficial radiotherapy), electrodessication and curettage, or aggressive cryotherapy.
