Neil H. Feldman, D.D.S.

Neil H Feldman, DDS

Neil Feldman, D.D.S., is a dentist in Thurmont, MD who focuses on comprehensive and preventative dentistry. He also performs routine oral surgery, places and restores dental implants, and is experienced with digital dentistry.

Growing up in nearby Westminster, MD, Dr. Feldman could see the Catoctin Mountains from the deck of his family home on a clear day. He graduated from St. Mary’s College of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and University of Maryland Baltimore County with a Master of Science in Applied Molecular Biology. After working in research for a few years, he went on to earn his D.D.S. degree at the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. During his time there, he completed a clerkship in the Special Care and Geriatrics clinic. He received numerous honors and awards including the Timothy O. Heatwole award for ethical standards, kindness, and humanitarianism. After dental school, he continued his education through a hospital-based general practice residency, treating disabled veterans at the Baltimore VA Medical Center’s Dental Clinic. After residency, Dr. Feldman worked as an associate dentist in a Harford County dental practice for several years.

Dr. Feldman met Dr. Love at a Frederick County Dental Society meeting and the two found they shared many core values and philosophies relating to dentistry and patient care. In 2021, Dr. Feldman purchased Catoctin Dental from Dr. Richard B. Love and they now enjoy working together.

Dr. Feldman is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the Maryland State Dental Association (MSDA), and the Frederick County Dental Society. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and has surpassed the 500 hours of continuing education required to earn his fellowship. He also served on the Board of Directors for the MSDA’s Charitable and Educational Foundation and enjoys volunteering at Mission of Mercy dental clinics across Maryland.

Dr. Feldman and his wife, Halley, live in New Market, MD. They welcomed twins in February 2021! In their spare time, they love going on hikes with their dog, Patterson. If you know of any good dog-friendly trails in the area, Dr. Feldman would love to hear about them.

Richard B. Love, D.D.S.

Richard B. Love D.D.S. is a general dentist in Thurmont, MD who focuses on preventive and restorative family dentistry. In addition, he offers orthodontic care and cosmetic dentistry.

Dr. Love was raised in Thurmont and has been practicing dentistry here since 1983. He earned his D.D.S. at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. He is also a graduate of Catoctin High School and Western Maryland College (renamed McDaniel College in 2004). He began practicing dentistry in Glen Burnie, MD before returning to Thurmont and purchasing the practice from his hometown dentist, Dr. John Doll. In January 2021, he sold the practice to Dr. Feldman and they now enjoy working together. Continuing dental education is one of Dr. Love’s top professional priorities. In 2000, he earned his Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) by completing more than 500 hours of continuing education course credits that covered a broad spectrum of topics. Only 6% of general dentists in the United States earn this award. He continues to expand his professional knowledge each year by participating in classes on a variety of dental topics. He is currently focusing his coursework on advances in cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics.

Community support

Outside of the office, Dr. Love and Dr. Feldman have a strong commitment to the community. Catoctin Dental sponsors a Thurmont Little League baseball team and supports local school and community activities. Dr. Love coached his children in youth sports for the Glade Valley Athletic Association ( GVAA) baseball, basketball, and soccer programs from 1989-2002, holding the office of president of the GVAA Soccer Program from 1996-1998 and the Walkersville Soccer Advocates from 2001-2004. As a sports enthusiast, you can still find Dr. Love in the stands cheering on local teams with friends and family.

Administration

Our administration team helps Dr. Feldman run the office and supports the needs and interests of our patients. They are often the first to greet you when you visit or call the office.

Peggy has been an integral member of our team for more than 20 years. As the Office Manager, she handles patient and insurance billing, appointment scheduling, and the administrative needs of the office. She enjoys getting to know patients and their families as well as helping them feel comfortable while they are in the office. Outside of the office, Peggy enjoys spending time with family and friends, walking, gardening, relaxing at the beach, playing volleyball, and captaining a Relay for Life team to support the American Cancer Society.

Dental Hygienists

Our Registered Dental Hygienists are licensed by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners and hold current certificates for practice. In addition to being excellent clinicians, they are gentle and avid patient educators in the prevention of dental disease.

Billie has more than 20 years of dental office experience and has been with Catoctin Dental for more than 15 years. Her interest in oral healthcare stems back to high school when she was inspired to pursue an Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene. She enjoys educating people about how their oral health can improve their overall systemic health. Her favorite part is building a rapport with her patients. Outside the office, Billie loves spending time with her family, attending her boys’ sporting events, and being outdoors.

Melanna earned her Associates of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene in 2009 and joined our team that fall. In addition, she is licensed to administer local anesthesia for patients who need deeper cleaning. She enjoys establishing a rapport with patients and treating every generation of their family. She encourages everyone to maintain a regular cleaning interval and ask her any questions they have about their oral health. No question is silly! Outside of the office, Melanna enjoys hiking with her family and exploring new places.

Dental Assistants

Our dental assistants gentle and caring manner makes patients feel comfortable, and their expanded qualifications optimize patient care.

Jean has worked at Catoctin Dental for more than 30 years and is our team’s Clinical Coordinator. She is licensed in radiology, expanded functions, and orthodontics. She enjoys helping to eliminate people’s fears about dental treatment and educating people about how much their health depends on how well they take care of their teeth. Outside of the office, she enjoys being with her family, including her Dobermans.

Sarah joined our team in 2021 as a Sterilization Technician and is working towards earning certifications in radiology and expanded assisting functions. One of her favorite parts of working with patients is getting to know new people. When she isn’t assisting our team, she enjoys spending time with her family.
