WHAT IS LASER THERAPY?
Laser Therapy or “photobiomodulation” is the use of specific wavelengths of light to create therapeutic effects. These effects include, but are not limited to, improved healing time, pain reduction, increased circulation, decreased swelling and vasodilation. We use the Berman Class IV 60 Watt Crystal Diode Laser at 980nm wavelength in our practice. It is an FDA cleared Class 4 laser.
HOW DOES THE LASER WORK?
During each painless treatment, laser energy increases circulation, drawing water, oxygen and nutrients to the damaged area. Thus, an optimal healing environment is created that reduces inflammation, swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness and pain. In addition, the laser accelerates wound healing as well as produces singlet oxygen, which destroys infections.
