DOT Physical Exams

You may want to save time by getting your DOT physical on the same day as your DOT drug screening. Before your exam, you will be asked to fill out the employee's section of the DOT physical form. You'll need to write your driver's license number and Social Security number on the form and note if you have had certain injuries or conditions, including epilepsy, dizziness, fainting, heart disease, neurological disorders, brain injuries, psychiatric disorders, impaired vision, hearing loss and kidney disease.

During the physical, your Woodbridge Primary Care doctor will check your vital signs and perform a neurological examination and vision test. He'll also take a look at your throat, eyes and ears and listen to your lungs and heart. After your exam, he will discuss the results with you and discuss any health conditions or diseases that could affect your driving performance. In most cases, your driving certificate will be renewed for two years. If a problem is detected, your certificate may be renewed for a shorter time period, and you will need to undergo another exam when the certificate expires.
