The practice was originally formed in 1989 by Micheal M. Van Ness, MD as a solo practice. Gastroenterology Specialists, Inc, was incorporated in 1994 and six years later Andrew G. Libertin, MD joined. Kenny S. Yung, MD joined the practice in August 2004 and Sanjiv K. Khullar, MD in August 2010. The practice continued to grow and welcomed Jonathan P. Congeni, MD in July 2014 and Amar Podugu, MD in July 2017. Dr. Van Ness retired in 2020 and Dr. Libertin left in May 2022. The practice welcomed Richard M Salvino, MD in July 2022. The physicians are supported by 4 Nurse Practitioners and a Physician Assistant. All physicians are board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Gastroenterology.
