NY Sports Podiatry is owned and operated by its full time sports podiatrist Dr. Arthur J. Kaplan. A 1983 graduate of the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in Manhattan , Dr. Kaplan is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and is a long standing member of the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine . He is affiliated with North Shore University and Long Island Jewish Hospitals.
In private practice since 1986, Dr. Kaplan has treated amateur and professional athletes from the realms of short and long distance runners, tri-athletes, baseball, softball, basketball, football, golf, tennis and soccer. Many of his patients are children from elementary school athletics to college.
Dr. Kaplan's post graduate education and training in gait, running and cycling biomechanics is surpassed by few in his field. His gait analysis system, Simi Aktisys, is the newest generation of easy motion analysis. This sophisticated system is used to capture high speed videos of each runner, walker or cyclist and measures the individual's unique biomechanics. The data is then used to identify problem areas and develop intervention strategies to address the root cause of the movement impairment.
