Dr. Mario Brakin

Dr. Mario Brakin is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Endocrinology. He began his medical training in Argentina over forty years ago. During that time he was awarded many honors including the Golden Medal and Suma Cum Laude Diploma for academic excellence. In 1979 Dr. Brakin set up practice in California after completing his Residency in Pediatrics at Maimonides Medical Center and Fellowship training in Pediatric Endocrinology at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, both affilliated with Downstate University Medical School in Brooklyn, New York.

In addition to his private practice, he is currently a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California, Irvine and Director of Pediatric Endocrinology & Diabetes Center at Miller Children's Hospital Long Beach. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and holds membership in many local, regional and national medical societies.

Dr. Brakin received Outstanding Volunteer Faculty Awards in 1987- 1988 and 1999 from the UCI Department of Pediatrics; Physician of the Year Awards in 1987,1989,1997,1998, 2004, 2006 and 2007 from the nursing staff at Miller Children's Hospital Long Beach; Super Doctor in Endocrinology, Los Angeles Magazine in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2011, 2013, 2014,2015 and 2016 and Miller Children's Hospital Long Beach Parent's Choice Award in 2010.

He is very personable, dedicated and loved by all, he is bilingual English/Spanish

He specializes in Childhood Diabetes (with special interest in Insulin Pump therapy), Obesity, Short Stature/Growth Disorders, Diseases of the Thyroid, Parathyroid and Adrenal Glands, Diabetes Insipidus as well as Precocious and Delayed Puberty.

Dr. Pablito Nagpala

Dr. Pablito Nagpala is a Board Eligible Pediatric Endocrinologist; he received a B.S. in Applied Chemistry in 1979 at the University of the Philippines. After moving to the United States he continued his education at Louisiana State University where he received a PhD in Biochemistry in 1990. Then worked in research for the Pharmaceutical industry for several years until he decided to further his education and pursue his dream of becoming a Physician; in 1999 he received a Medical Degree at the University of Illinois, Chicago.
He recently earned his MBA at the University of California Irvine, in August 2013.

Dr. Nagpala completed his Residency in Pediatrics at Hope Children's Hospital affiliated with the University of Illinois, Chicago and his Fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology at Children's Hospital and Health Center University of California, San Diego in 2005.
During his years at the Pharmaceutical industry, Residency and Fellowship Dr. Nagpala was involved in numerous research studies and was a recipient of several grants. He is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California, Irvine. He received Outstanding Physician of the Year Award from the nursing Staff at Miller Children's Hospital Long Beach in 2008. His Special interests are Childhood Diabetes, Pump Therapy, Short Stature, Thyroid as well as Precocious and Delayed Puberty.

He is bilingual English/ Tagalog

Judith Brakin, Business Manager

Judith Brakin is our Business Manager. She has been with us since 1983 when the private practice first opened and was responsible for acquiring all the necessary permits and licenses, purchasing and setting up the equipment and furniture and much much more. Judy has a Masters in Biochemistry from the National University of Cordoba Argentina and also holds a Medical Technologist License in Chemistry, Microbiology and Immunology from New York State. She has taken classes in Medical Office Management, Billing and Accounting from Orange County City College. Her true passion is interior design, and we hope you enjoy our newly decorated warm welcoming office which she designed. She is here to help you on any issues you may have, so please don't hesitate to contact her!

Jamie Medina, LVN

Jamie joined our office in 1983 and has been with us since then. She Graduated from Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, California in 1977. She has grown with our practice and is now a Certified Pump Trainer for Animas, Minimed Omnipod and Tandem T-Slim, as well as a Certified CGMS trainer and Certified Growth hormone trainer. She"s also in charge of our Clinical Trials.

Jamie participates in several Clinical Studies and in Nurse Advisory Boards of different Growth Hormone Companies. She is very personable, knowledgeable, resourceful, has a lot of patience and a very good rapport with patients and parents. She is always ready to
answer any questions you may have!

Jovita Corona, Office Manager

Jovita Corona joined our office in 1994 after graduating as a Medical Assistant. She held different positions in our office as a receptionist, back office, billing; she grew with our practice is a very resourceful and delightful person and knows about everything. Now she is the one in charge!

Cleo Hernandez

Cleo Hernandez joined our team in 2008 as a Medical Assistant. She has over 8 years of experience in Pediatrics and it didn't take her long to adjust to working with us. Cleo is very efficient and caring and she will help you out with anything you need. Her duties include collecting vital signs, obtaining medical information from patients and families, filling prescriptions and following up with patients on lab results.

Maggie De La Rosa

Maggie is the newest addition to our team, she started on July 2017, she has over 6 years experience working in a medical practice where she wore many hats (Medical Assistant / Receptionist / Authorizations / Billing) She will be in charge of authorizations and help as Medical Assistant. We are sure you will enjoy interacting with her, she is  very reliable and a pleasure to work with. In just a few weeks was able to master her job!
