Meet the Doctors

  • Mairead (Mame) Wilson, MD
    Doctor

Dr. Mame Wilson is a board certified pediatrician with experience in a variety of different settings including underserved communities, a large busy suburban practice and newborn hospital care. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science from Harvard. She then graduated and spent 3 years skiing in Aspen Colorado before deciding that she ultimately wanted to go into medicine. There was never any question about what kind of medicine she would pursue. Having always worked with children or adolescents in some capacity - whether babysitting, teaching skiing, or coaching college rowing, she knew from the moment she started medical school that she wanted to take care of children and adolescents. She earned her Doctorate of Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester and completed a residency in pediatrics at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Mame grew up in Duxbury, Massachusetts where she now lives with her husband and three children and their 10 year old golden retriever. They live in a 300 year old house where the floors are uneven and there is always another project on the horizon. She enjoys running (usually very early in the morning with a headlamp and her dog), biking the beach at low tide, rowing, spending long summer days on the boat in Duxbury Bay, and skiing as much as possible in the winter. She is the medical consultant for Pilgrim Childcare and Preschool and she volunteers every spring to talk to the 5th graders in town about puberty. (to the horror of her now 5th grade daughter)

She is drawn to direct patient care because she never quite felt like she had enough time to spend with each of her patients while working in a more traditional practice. What she loves most about pediatrics is getting to know her patients and their families, and doing what is best for them, despite the confines of insurance regulations. She believes strongly in parental instincts and places great value in talking to parents and listening to their concerns. She loves watching children grow and seeing how they develop over the course of their young lives. She feels privileged to work with her patient families, building strong relationships with the shared goal of optimal health for their children.
