Annie Kohlrus, MD

Being a pediatrician is a dream come true for Dr. Annie Kohlrus. Kohlrus

“Children are amazing - they change, grow and learn so quickly,” she says. “They are resilient, unique, and fun. We as adults can learn a lot by listening to the way a child sees the world. Being able to develop relationships from birth through college and partnering with parents to help their little ones become healthy adults is the world's greatest job, no contest.

Dr. Kohlrus is joining Johnson County Pediatricians on Nov. 3. She will see patients on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Families may also get to know Dr. Kohlrus when she is working in the walk-in clinic.

She grew up locally, attending a private school through her high school graduation. She graduated with a degree in biology and a minor in psychology from the University of Kansas. She graduated from the KU School of Medicine, and then completed her residency at Children’s Mercy Hospital.

Dr. Kohlrus and her husband, Chris, have a son born in March of 2024.

“I would tell first-time parents that they are always doing a much better job than they give themselves credit for,” she says. “You absolutely know your child best.”

Her advice when choosing a pediatrician is to find a physician who is supportive and empathetic.

Along with their son Peter, Dr. Kohlrus and her husband have an energetic chocolate lab named Brandy. Dr. Kohlrus loves to bake and jog, and spend time outdoors. Big sports fans, she and her husband remain cordial even though she is a Jayhawk and he is a Wildcat.
