Dr. Andrea Johnstone

Dr. Andrea Johnstone is a board certified periodontist who provides comprehensive periodontal care to patients including implant surgical procedures. Dr. Johnstone has a special interest in soft tissue grafting for teeth and implants and regenerative surgery. Dr. Johnstone completed her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Science from the University of Guelph. She then received her doctor of dental surgery degree from the  University of Western Ontario  . Dr Johnstone then completed a residency program at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. Dr. Johnstone then received her Masters of Science (Periodontology) at the  University of Toronto  . Dr. Johnstone is a fellow of the  Royal College of Dentists of Canada  .  Dr Johnstone is a staff Clinician at the Centre for Advanced Dental Research at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto completing clinical research in advanced cases of periodontal disease, gingival recession and developing new techniques for papilla regeneration.   Dr Johnstone is also the Past President of the Toronto Central Dental Society, and Past President of the Ontario Society of Periodontists.  Dr Johnstone also enjoys cooking and golf and is a mother to twin boys!


Dr. Monica Raina

Dr. Monica Raina is a dually board-certified periodontist in Canada and the United States, trained in all aspects of gum surgery and implant dentistry. Her practice scope includes comprehensive periodontal and implant surgery, with a passion for soft tissue grafting, aesthetic gingival procedures and bone augmentation procedures for implant-site development. She completed her dental degree at Western University and then entered into a 1-year hospital internship at the University of Rochester, Eastman Institute of Oral Health, enriching her training in complex surgical cases and medically compromised patients. She then completed her periodontal speciality training at the University of Iowa, receiving her Diploma in Periodontics and Implant Surgery and a Masters of Science in Oral Sciences. She is both a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. She has won multiple awards and has published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.Dr. Raina has been teaching at the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry since 2014 and enjoys helping shape the minds of future dentists. She is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the Ontario Dental Association, the Midwest Society of Periodontology, the American Board of Periodontology and sits on the executive committee of the Ontario Society of Periodontology and the Toronto Central Dental Society. Dr. Raina enjoys cooking, salsa dancing and spending time with friends and family in her spare time.


Dr. Maayan Inger

DDS, MSc(Perio), FRCD(C)

Dr. Maayan Inger is a board certified periodontist who provides the full scope of surgical periodontal and dental implant therapy with special interest in esthetic and reconstructive periodontal procedures. Dr. Inger completed with honors her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at the Pontficia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia, and after moving to Toronto, she completed her specialty training and Master’s of Science in Periodontology (MSc.perio) at the University of Toronto in 2014.  Dr. Inger is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and a Diplomate member of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.  In addition, she is a member of the Ontario Society of Periodontics, the American Academy of Periodontology, and the Ontario Dental Association. In her spare time Dr. Inger enjoys exercising, traveling and spending time with her husband and 3 girls. Dr. Inger is fluent in Spanish and Hebrew.





Dr. Alexandra Hunter

Dr. Alexandra Hunter is a board-certified periodontist and fellow of the Royal College of Dental Surgeons Canada, who is trained in periodontal plastic surgery and oral reconstruction. After completing her undergraduate degree at University of Ottawa, she went on to complete her Dental Degree in Ireland. Her explorative nature then led her to Vancouver to complete a Hospital based residency program. Dr. Hunter then worked as a general dentist for 2 years in Vancouver before returning to Toronto to finally finish her Academic endeavours at UofT where she completed her 3 year speciality training in Periodontology and a Masters in Science. Dr. Hunter continues to be involved with the University of Toronto dental students as well as works with patients at Mount Sinai at the Centre for Advanced Dental Research in tissue regeneration. As you may guess, aside from dentistry, Dr. Hunter loves travel, culture, food and nature.

Dr. Theodoros Katsaros

DDS, MSD, FRCD(c), Diplomate, American Board of Periodontology

Dr. Theo Katsaros is a board-certified periodontist in Canada, as well as in the United States. In 2008 he graduated with his dental degree from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. He served in the Greek army from 2002 until 2013 and practiced general dentistry in military hospitals and private practices for 5 years before moving to the United States in 2013. In June of 2016, he received his certificate in periodontics and a Master of Science in Dentistry from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, School of Dentistry in New Orleans. After graduation, he joined the University of Iowa College of Dentistry as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Periodontics where he served as the director of the post-graduate program. He has authored and co-authored several articles in peer-reviewed journals, and two textbook chapters. In 2020, he transitioned from academia to full-time private practice serving Toronto and the surrounding region. He serves as an examiner for the Royal College of Dentists of Canada Fellowship examination in periodontics

Dr. Alia El-Mowafy

Dental Anaesthesiologist

Dr. Alia El-Mowafy is a board certified Dental Anaesthesiologist. She practices in the GTA with a focus on pediatric dental anesthesia. She also teaches at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto to both undergraduate dental students and graduate residents in the Dental Anaesthesia program. In her spare time, she loves to cook.
