What are Well-Child Exams?

Find out why your child should never miss out on these medical checkups.well-child exams

No matter how healthy your child may be, it’s still important that they visit our Greenwich, CT, pediatricians, Dr. Karen Beckman, Dr. Alejandro Mones and Dr. Beth Rosenberg, for regular wellness checkups. We know life gets hectic and it can seem easy to just skip one or two of the visits, but we are here to tell you why you should make these appointments a priority.

Your child is growing by leaps and bounds and this is a critical time to make sure that everything is developing as it should and that your child is meeting all of their developmental milestones. Of course, it’s pretty normal for younger children to have more wellness checkups with our Greenwich children’s doctors then children who are older.

What goes into a well-child exam?

The main purpose of this visit is to perform a thorough physical examination to prevent, detect or diagnose conditions as soon as possible. We will check your child’s vital signs, as well as vision and hearing. Besides performing a physical examination we will also spend one-on-one time with you and your child to make sure that they are getting the care they need.

Some topics we will discuss include:

  • Diet
  • Home life
  • Sleep patterns
  • Family medical history
  • Current health problems (both chronic and acute)

This visit is also the perfect time to bring all of your questions and concerns. We know that first-time parents, in particular, will have a lot of questions and we are here to provide all the answers they need to put their minds at rest.

If you need to schedule a wellness check-up with one of our pediatricians or if you have questions about the pediatric medical services we offer here in Riverside Pediatrics, LLC then don’t hesitate to call our office today.
