We are unable to treat a patient unless we have adequate and current periodontal x-rays. X-rays are mandatory to accurately and fully evaluate periodontal issues. They help determine the amount and location of bone loss, the size and shape of tooth roots, the amount of root still embedded in bone, and the relationship of the teeth to each other among other issues. If your referring dentist has taken x-rays, please request that they be forwarded to us.
Since all patients are different, Dr. Kapoor must complete your examination before establishing your treatment planning and the fee for care. The fee for periodontal treatment can vary considerably depending on the type of problems, the complexity, and length of treatment. An approximate fee can usually be determined at the initial visit; However, on occasion, some initial treatment or further diagnostics must be completed before the final treatment planning can be established. Dr. Kapoor believes that the type of treatment you need and receive from him is based upon the severity of your disease and his professional judgment.
Dental insurance policies often cover periodontal treatment. Please bring all medical and dental benefit information and cards to your examination appointment. Upon request, we will submit a claim to predetermine your insurance benefits; however, this is not required by most plans.
Not everyone needs periodontal surgery. If treated early, gum disease can be controlled without surgery. Dr. Kapoor will make recommendations based on your individual situation.
The recent advances in periodontal treatment allow us to successfully treat most teeth. However, depending on the severity of your disease, some teeth may not be saved.
Our office and your dentist will work closely together. If crowns and fillings are needed your dentist will provide them. Regular visits to your dentist are an important part of your periodontal maintenance and overall oral heath.
