Dr. Jon Owen
My name is Jon Owen. I am 46 years old, a lifelong resident of Southern IL, and have lived in the Metro-East for 20 years with my wife and two children. My hobbies include hunting, fishing, golfing and attempting to stay physically fit. I grew up in Sparta, IL and graduated from Sparta High in 1993. After earning a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University, (Go Dawgs!), I started my career in the St. Louis area; the largest part of which was spent in pharmaceuticals. I returned to school at SIU School of Dental Medicine and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine. I currently hold the office of Secretary with the St Clair District Dental Society, have memberships with the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Society and spent many hours of continuing education.
After years of treating patients in the Metro East, I am pleased to be joining the lovely community of Smithton. In keeping with the ethical mission of dentistry, achieving and maintaining your oral health is my primary concern. I, too, will treat esthetic and cosmetic needs to the highest expectation. I look forward to meeting each of you at your next appointment!
Dr. Thomas Bircher
Dr. Thomas Bircher is a 1984 graduate of Illinois Weselyan University with a bachelor of Biology degree. He graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in 1989 with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. After graduation he worked in private practices in Quincy and Washington, IL, and on staff at the children's dental clinic of the Peoria City/County Health Department. He completed a General Practice Residency in Dentistry through SIU in 1992 and has been practicing in Smithton since then.
Dr. Meg Bircher
Dr. Meg Bircher graduated in 1988 from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with a bachelor of Biology degree. She is a 1991 graduate of Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree. She also completed one year Residency in General Dentistry in 1992. Dr. Meg was in private practice in O'Fallon, IL for five years before joining her husband in Smithton in 1997.
Drs. Tom and Meg have over 50 years of combined clinical dental experience. Throughout their careers they have continued to take courses in implant dentistry, pain management, cosmetic dentistry as well as orthodontic and restorative care.
Both doctors are members of the Academy of General Dentistry, the St. Clair District Dental Society, Illinois State Dental Society and the American Dental Association.
Drs. Tom and Meg have been married since 1991 and have three children.
