How Veneers Can Improve Your Smile

Discover the smile benefits you’ll experience when you choose dental veneers.

Are slightly crooked, chipped or stained teeth keeping you from the smile you want? If so, you may think you need to sit through multiple invasive procedures to get the perfect set of teeth; however, what if your Cincinnati dentist told you there is a minimally Veneersinvasive and painless way to get the smile you want? It’s not too hard to believe. You can boost the look of your smile instantly with dental veneers.

What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers are thin shells made of translucent porcelain that are applied to the front of your teeth to hide flaws and create a whiter, straighter smile. Dental veneers are uniquely crafted to offer the same look, shape and color of your teeth, so it’s impossible to tell the difference between your veneers and natural teeth.

How are dental veneers put on?

Getting dental veneers is surprisingly easy and painless. While other cosmetic procedures like dental crowns require more tooth preparation beforehand, veneers don’t require much tooth prep. Before the veneers are applied, we will shave down about ½ millimeter of your tooth’s enamel. Since only a minimal amount of enamel is being removed, you don’t have to worry about discomfort. However, once the enamel has been removed this procedure is considered irreversible.

Once the preparation is complete, we will choose veneers based on the proper shade and look. After we get your approval we will apply a special dental cement between the veneers and your teeth and then direct a light beam on your veneers to permanently harden the cement.

What can dental veneers fix?

If you are dealing with any of these common dental flaws, then dental veneers could help improve your smile in Cincinnati:

  • Discolorations and internal stains
  • Minor overlapping or crookedness
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Chips and cracks
  • Misshapen teeth

How long do dental veneers last?

With the proper care your porcelain veneers can last up to 20 years; however, a lot will depend on your oral care. Luckily, dental veneers do not require special care. Just treat them exactly like natural teeth when it comes to brushing and flossing. Also, you should be seeing your Cincinnati dentist every six months for routine care to make sure your veneers and smile are being well maintained.

If you are interested in dental veneers and what they can offer you then be sure to schedule your consultation with Drs. David Croop, Ben Gosnell, Bob Bertsch or Brenda Bertsch, your Cincinnati dentists with Mt. Lookout Dentistry. Let’s give you a smile to be proud of!
