Laser Treatment

Catalina Dermatology has four state-of-the-art lasers to meet your cosmetic dermatology needs. Please note that most insurance companies do not offer reimbursement for cosmetic procedures.

AviClear:

Catalina Dermatology is excited to introduce AviClear, the first FDA-cleared laser for the treatment of mild, moderate, and severe acne. AviClear can safely and effectively treat all skin types and can be used on all acne severities in adolescents and adults. AviClear uses a 1725nm wavelength to selectively target and down regulate the sebaceous glands. Overproduction of sebum by the sebaceous glands is one of the leading causes of acne. Patients undergo three treatment sessions over three months, with mild post-treatment symptoms such as redness, inflammation, and flareups that resolve quickly. The laser is equipped with exclusive AviClear sapphire skin cooling and sensory controls that maintain your skin’s temperature during treatment to provide a more comfortable experience.

Vbeam Perfecta:

The Vbeam Perfecta is, as its name implies, a perfect solution for safely and effectively targeting skin discoloration resulting from sun damage, age spots, and conditions such as rosacea. The Vbeam uses Pulsed Dye (PDL) technology and is safe for all skin types. Patients report a warming or tingling sensation, but to minimize any discomfort, a Dynamic Cooling Device is used during the treatment to cool the area and to reduce side effects such as redness. Patients are advised to avoid sun exposure before and throughout treatments. The VBeam reduces redness and ensures an even-toned complexion.

GentleMax Pro:

The GentleMax laser is utilized for hair removal and leg veins. Just as with the Vbeam, the Dynamic Cooling Device technology shields the upper layers of your skin with cooling bursts of cryogen. Patients being treated for hair removal are advised to refrain from plucking, electrolysis or waxing for six weeks prior to treatment. In addition, if you have a history of herpes simplex virus, you may be prescribed prophylactic antiviral therapy. The Gentle Max Pro can also be used to treat the following: vascular lesions, port wine stains, hemangiomas, telangiectasias, diffuse redness, venous lakes, pigmented lesions, wrinkles, nail fungus, and pseudofolliculitis barbae.

Fraxel Dual 1550/1927:

Catalina Dermatology is the only dermatology practice in Tucson to offer the Fraxel Dual laser for facial skin rejuvenation. This particular laser has the advantage of two modes, the 1550, which penetrates deeply and targets wrinkles and acne scarring, and the 1927, which is less invasive and targets tone, texture and superficial aging signs. Since the Fraxel Dual laser treats a fraction of tissue at a time, it permits rapid healing and allows for the growth of new, healthy skin by remodeling of collagen. The Fraxel Dual can also be used for melasma (irregular patches of brown skin on the forehead, cheeks and upper lip), and actinic keratoses.
