Lori Smith joined the Pan Dental Care Team as Office Manager and Clinical Team Leader in 2002 and has become a dynamic key member. She is the perfect first impression at the front desk while greeting our new patients as they walk through our door, and as always, just as welcoming to our regular patients! We truly appreciate her diligence in maintaining the daily flow and smoothness of our dental team and consistently striving to keep patients satisfied with their personalized care.

A graduate of Melrose High School with honors, Lori is formally trained as a Certified DANB (CDA) and Licensed Dental Assistant (LDA) with advanced education in front desk office management, a member of the American Association of Dental Office Managers (AADOM), and has many years of in-depth private dental practice experience.

Lori’s strong dedication, expertise, and excellent communication skills have kept our patients extremely satisfied with a clear understanding of all types of dental insurance coverages, customized financial plans, and ease in scheduling appointments for the entire family. 

Lori's patient service skills and friendliness are unsurpassed. She has kept our patient referral base rising and growing stronger with each year. Born, raised and a lifelong resident of Melrose, Lori has been married to her husband Bob for 26 years, and they have two children. Their daughter is currently pursuing a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at the Tufts University Cummings School, and she is also a graduate of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. Their son is pursuing a degree in communications and media at University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

The Smith Family are avid sports fans and enjoy following their children's activities and events. Favorite family activities include spending time outdoors and quiet relaxing time by the ocean at their family summer home in Moody Beach, Maine. While they enjoy many water sports activities, they also enjoy attending the Boston Celtics and Boston Red Sox games along with following the BU Terrier and UMass Minuteman Ice Hockey Teams.

Please welcome Ashley, our full-time Patient Care Coordinator, who officially joined our Pan Dental Care Team on July 25, 2022.  With over seven years of dental front desk experience, new and longtime patients immediately enjoy her dedication to personalized dental care and accommodating each and every patient with the kindest manner that she does so well!

Ashley specializes in smoothly scheduling patient appointments electronically, in a calm organized fashion as well as making their treatment steps easy to understand. Five star service, friendliness, kindness, being helpful and understanding towards our patients' needs are among Ashley's top priority.  

In addition to proficient insurance processing including dental insurance verifications, frequencies, pre-authorization of benefits, pre-treatment estimates and third-party billing, Ashley is glad to assist you in any way that she can. Excellent service with a smile and happy demeanor are her #1 trademark!

A 2013 honor graduate of Saugus High School, Ashley learned excellence in customer service and attention to detail through her family's business. Strong work ethic, harmony with her team and dedication are only a few of her most favorable and outstanding working attributes.  

In her spare time away from work, family and friends are her personal joy!  She loves cooking, traveling, long walks on the beach, visiting relatives abroad and spending time with her tight-knit family.

Theresa is an energetic and vivacious member of our dental team and has been Dr. Nelson Pan's Lead Dental Assistant since 1999. A graduate of Reading High School and Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School in Wakefield, she studied to become a Certified Dental Assistant.

With a vast and keen knowledge of all phases of family and cosmetic four-handed dentistry, her expanded skills and expertise in patient management are highly essential in maintaining the everyday proficiency of Dr. Pan’s patient schedule. Her bright personality and positive enthusiasm keep patients of all ages comfortable and relaxed throughout the entire dental appointment. Over the years, Theresa has developed strong bonds with patients’ families that span many generations and they look forward to seeing her familiar cheerful smile during dental visits.

Away from the office, Theresa enjoys a busy and fun-filled home life with her husband, Steve, of 28 years. They have a daughter, two sons, and a Maltese dog named, Gus. Her family enjoys spending time together in Maine while boating and fishing for fresh-water bass and trout. Theresa is a fabulous baker and makes the most amazing home-made whoopie pies!

It is our pleasure and joy to announce, Karen, our licensed dental assistant who joined our team full-time on September 24, 2020. She provides a relaxing, gentle, calm, joyful and caring experience with her soft-spoken voice. Her dental assisting skills are highly proficient in all phases of restorative dentistry including children's care, cosmetic dentistry, CEREC one-visit porcelain crowns, root canals and dental implants.

Karen is a 2017 honor graduate of Northeast Metropolitan Regional Technical Vocational High School in Wakefield, MA. A multi-award winner recipient, Karen received the Outstanding Achievement Award for High Academic Excellence in the graduating Class 2017 as well as the Exceptional Craftsmanship Award in the Discipline of Dental Science.  Additionally, she was a Varsity Soccer Team member all four years of high school from freshman all the way through senior year! Karen embodies excellence in academics, arts, athletics and she was voted Best Smile in Class Superlatives!

A stellar dental assistant, Karen is CPR/BLS Certified, fully trained in OSHA, Infection Control, HIPAA, and a Licensed Dental Assistant with Certification in Dental Radiology and successful completion of the Dental Assistant National Board (DANB).

A native of the North Shore, Karen loves long walks along the sandy beaches, especially during the warm weather. During her time away from work, Karen loves to spend time with family, working out doing CrossFit training, traveling, and relaxing by the beach and pool. Her favorite season is summer.

Kathy is a Honor graduate of St. Mary’s Annunciation of Cambridge and Bryman Institute where she studied to become a Certified Dental Assistant. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of dental assisting including orthodontics, family and cosmetic dentistry, and dental care management.

Kathy assists our In-house Orthodontist, Dr. Katelyn Pan, and together they enjoy the gratification of helping patients understand their orthodontic procedures. With over 30 years of dental assisting, orthodontic assisting, front desk administration and office management experience, Kathy has been a much-welcomed addition to our dental team for the past 15 years. Her kindness, warmth and valuable experience in patient management ensures ease and comfort during any dental procedure.

In 1982, after marrying her husband, John, who is a lifelong resident of Melrose, Kathy has made Melrose her home ever since! They have two sons, a Beagle mix and a domestic cat.  The Delcore family favorite and longtime tradition are hosting their popular Patriots game parities with Kathy cooking and baking her specialty recipes. She also enjoys quilting classes and relaxes while knitting, reading, and gardening.

Licensed Dental Assistant

With over 23 years of extensive multi-faceted dental assisting experience, Heidi joined our Pan Dental Care Team on April 9, 2018, first as a Front Desk Patient Care Coordinator. She was extremely helpful as we transitioned from paper charts to a paper-less electronic digital records system. In January 2019, Heidi, a licensed dental assistant, began regularly  assisting Dr. Jeffrey Pan on Wednesdays and Thursdays in all phases of family and advanced dentistry, including pediatric children's dentistry, drill-less dentistry, dental implant placement, CEREC one-visit porcelain crowns, endodontics root canals, and cosmetic dentistry. 

Heidi possesses outstanding clinical skills and has multiple certifications in Dental Radiology, CPR Basic Life Support, OSHA, HIPAA, Infection Control and has taken countless continuing education courses to provide the most innovative, computerized and revolutionary dental care offered today. 

A native of Salem, MA, Heidi's favorite family fun is following her children's athletic activities.

Dorothy Hong Courtney 'Dotty' is an honor graduate of Melrose High School, honor graduate of Boston's Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists and Northeastern University. She is a meticulous, energetic, caring and outstanding member of our dental team since 2007. After graduating from Forsyth, she received advanced education in periodontal - oral physiotherapy training with the internationally renowned Dr. Gerald Kramer, Chairman of the Department of Periodontology, Boston University School of Dental Medicine.

At Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine, Dotty was an integral member of the periodontal clinical team and continuing education division, Dotty is credited for her contributions in the Department of Periodontology with Chairman, Dr. Gerald  Kramer, and also, Dr. Hyman Smukler, Chairman of the Department of Oral Diagnosis.

With Dotty's professional experience as a member of the Team in the Institute for the Correction of Facial Deformities (ICFD) in the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery along with Boston University-affiliated Faculty practices, Dotty brings with her the highest standard of excellence to our patients' comprehensive periodontal care and preventative general treatment.

Dotty is very proud of her five children, as was their father Dr. Michael W. Courtney. Sr., a Boston University trained periodontist. Their oldest three children are dentists and Honor graduates of Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Elizabeth Courtney Jones and her husband, Dr. Derek Jones, are family & cosmetic dentists and owners of Sanford Family Dental in Sanford, Maine. Dr. Sarah Courtney followed in her father's footsteps and specializes in Periodontology and Dental Implants. Dotty's oldest son, Dr. Michael W. Courtney, Jr., is an Honor graduate of the prestigious combined Medical Doctor (MD) and Oral Surgery program specializing in Orthognathic Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS). Their youngest two children are Kathryn Courtney Roy who works in business finance overseeing highly successful Nationally-ranked Hedge Funds. Richard Thomas Courtney enjoys his fulfilling career in healthcare administration and has worked at Boston's Dana-Farber Cancer Institute to make his heartfelt team contribution at DFCI: Discover. Care. Believe.

Dotty enjoys leading an active healthy life in exercise cardio-kick-boxing and step classes as well as hiking the Mt. Washington Valley trails during every seasons including snowy winters in New Hampshire!!

Samantha and her family have been longtime loyal patients at Pan Dental Care - way before she was a member of the dental profession. It was here, as a patient of Dr. Pan, that Sam became interested in dental hygiene and decided to attend Forsyth in Boston!  So, we were extra excited when Samantha joined our team as a registered dental hygienist (RDH) on June, 15, 2015, and later, she became full-time in April 2017. 

Immediately, we discovered that Samantha's philosophies in oral physiotherapy care, preventative dental treatment, and patient education are of the highest level of standard that Pan Dental Care values so greatly. Patients constantly compliment her strong, focused, professional work ethic and diligence in motivating optimal oral health for a lifetime.

Samantha was born in Korea and adopted at age 4. She grew up in Natick, and after graduating from Natick High School she attended Simmons College in Boston where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in English and Philosophy. Later, she received her Bachelor of Science degree at the prestigious Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

Happily married since 1999, it was wonderful fate and destiny that Samantha met her future husband, Michael, on a blind date set up by her best friend and dormitory mate at Simmons College. In 2006, Samantha and Michael moved to Melrose, and they have four beautiful children.  

Fun excitement includes being a busy 'hockey family' and having a love of creating artwork. This past season was super exciting with their son, Cormac, playing on a team that won a Melrose Ice Hockey League Championship! With a keen interest in fine arts, daughter Carson has had her talented artwork displayed in multiple Melrose art exhibits including Memorial Hall, Melrose Public Library and schools throughout this area. The two youngest children have fun cheering at ice hockey games and are developing their artistic skills in drawing and painting. Samantha, Michael and their four children love traveling on vacation to Bermuda, Disney World, and Cape Cod.

Pan Dental Care is extremely proud and happy to have on staff full-time registered dental hygienist, Alexa, RDH BS, who joined our professional team July 20, 2020. With a kind smile, warm personality and outstanding patient rapport with toddlers, children and adults of all ages, Alexa enjoys working all of our weekday daytime hours, and also, evening hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights along with selected Saturdays.

Over the past ten years, Alexa has gained a multitude of vast dental experience in all aspects of adult, geriatric and children's dentistry as well as working in private practice specialty in pediatric dentistry. With an outstanding skill level in the newest oral physiotherapy techniques, hand instrumentation and an amazing gentle touch, Pan Dental Care receives excellent feedback from patients, families, parents and children who appreciate Alexa's dedication and detailed attention in providing exemplary personalized care.

Alexa began her dental career attending the Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School in Wakefield where she was an Honors student in the Dental Assisting Program. Graduating top in her class in 2015, she successfully completed the National Board Certification, and she was inducted as an Honoree of the prestigious National Honor Society.

Beginning in 2011, while working four years as a Certified Dental Assistant in family practice, Alexa completed her studies with Honors and received her Bachelors of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS). She is Radiology and BLS/CPR Certified and has her Local Anesthesia License through the Board of Registration in Dentistry.

With many artistic hobbies, Alexa enjoys craft artwork, cooking, travelling and spending time with her family, friends and dog, Zoey.

FUN FACT #2: ALEXA LOVES CREATING DELICIOUS WHOLESOME RECIPES, ENTREES AND TREATS!  ENTERTAINING FAMILY AND FRIENDS DURING FESTIVE HOLIDAYS & BIRTHDAYS ARE HER FAVORITE!!

Highly meticulous with clinically exceptional hand instrumentation skills and outstanding patient-centered care, Tracy has over six years of dedicated, private family practice experience in general dentistry. Tracy Khuu, RDH, joined our Pan Dental Care team on Saturdays in March 2022. Patients absolutely love her excellence in dental hygiene and comprehensive care. Excitedly, our team was jumping with joy and over-the-moon when she added days and evenings to her schedule in September 2022. Our entire professional team welcomed Tracy with open arms, and we are extremely fortunate to have her as an integral member working with our team every Saturday, weekday and evening hours.

Along with Tracy's tremendous oral-physiotherapy technique, gentle kind manner and high proficiency, she makes a strong impact with her philosophies in helping patients maintain optimal oral health and having a positive direct impact her patients' overall health. For this reason, she immensely enjoys educating and treating patients of all ages from baby's first-year old check-up, and two-year old first-time dental cleanings, all the way to adult senior periodontal care.

Exemplary and commended as a wealth of knowledge, Tracy is a wonderful educator in oral health, preventative dentistry and concise in answering treatment questions.

Tracy prides herself as a lifelong learner in keeping up with the newest techniques and innovations. Staying up-to-date with the current best practices, latest technologies and evidence-based published literature are a main focus. She loves the reward and gratification in observing her patients' successes in reaching their goals of optimal oral health as well as restorative, cosmetic makeover and orthodontic Invisalign treatments.

Welcome Lizbeth RDH, BS, our friendly registered dental hygienist, who joined Pan Dental Care in July 2023. Studious, adventurous and diligent, Lizbeth grew up in South America and came to Boston to attend college!! Living on the North Shore, we are extremely happy to have her on our team of dedicated, loyal and highly-skilled professionals.

An Honor graduate Class of 2022 Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) in Boston, she also earned her Bachelor of Science. Not only is Lizbeth kind, gentle and meticulous, she speaks fluently in both English and Spanish. Please feel free to request Lizbeth RDH for your dental cleanings to help make your visit easier, relaxed and more personalized.  A dedicated, friendly and outstanding team member, we are pleased that Lizbeth offers her patients' flexible hours including evenings and daytime appointments as well as most Saturdays! We are pleased to have Morgan as our Saturday part-time registered dental hygienist since 2019. A wonderful registered dental hygienist, she is enthusiastic and truly cares to help improve patients' oral health and keeping their smiles  shiny and bright. 

A native of New Jersey, Morgan came to Boston to attend Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS). 

'My career in dental hygiene is wonderful and gratifying. We must do all we can to prevent dental disease. Healthy pink gums helps us live a longer and healthier life.'

FUN FACT:  MORGAN IS A NEW JERSEY NETS BASKETBALL FAN, AND ACTUALLY, IS A HUGE FAN OF ALL NEW JERSEY SPORTS TEAMS!!

In March 2020, our entire professional team at Pan Dental Care is truly excited to introduce registered dental hygienist, Jennifer Cincotta, RDH, as a new phenomenal team member! Jennifer is thrilled to share her 20 years of highly-valued dental experience from Everett family dentist, Dr. Frank DeCaro, in adult and children's dentistry.  Jennifer prides herself with specializing in a personalized, kind, caring, gentle, trusting patient-centered approach. So needless to say, we were celebrating when Jennifer joined us with an additional weekday, evening and Saturday hours on April 26, 2021.  Now, since May 2022, it is a treat that Jennifer is here all day Mondays and Wednesdays as well as every other Saturday to see her many patients who request her for over 20 years!

An Honor graduate of Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists in Boston, Jennifer's strongest areas of expertise are providing exemplary quality of care to toddlers, children, teens and adults with true dental fear and anxiety. You will sense her kindness, understanding and gentleness the moment you meet her. Patients of all ages absolutely adore Jennifer's happy warm smile, soft soothing voice, peaceful manner, and optimistic outlook in life! Our wonderful registered dental hygienist, Renee, returned to Pan Dental Care on June 21, 2021, on a part-time schedule.  In 2013, Renee first joined our team when her daughter was a baby through 2018. Needing additional time off to take care of a new bouncing baby boy, her two children are growing fast, and they are absolutely her pride and joy!  Returning to Pan Dental Care in 2021, Renee works part-time when available while accommodating her ever-evolving fun-filled busy days with her children!

FUN FACT:  WHO IS OUR SNOBORDAGIRRL?  YES, RENEE IS AN EXPERT SNOW BOARDER ON DOUBLE BLACK DIAMONDS!!  HAVING GROWN UP NEXT TO BRADFORD SKI MOUNTAIN IN MASSACHUSETTS, SHE SPENT EVERY WINTER WEEKEND FREE STYLING ON THE SLOPES. 

Cathy is a 2007 graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree from Forsyth Dental Hygiene School at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Science (MCPHS) in Boston, MA. As a registered dental hygienist, Cathy always strives to provide a positive, enlightening visit and the ultimate patient experience thorough gentle cleanings and catering to her patient's individual needs.

Cathy is the 2nd oldest of five siblings. In 1992, she and her family immigrated from Vietnam to the United States. She is married and has two children. In her spare time, she enjoys doing yoga and spending time with family. Cathy would like to pick up gardening in the future, but the lovely chipmunks around her house don't think that she has a green thumb, for they take everything that she tries to plant! A happy optimist, she always stays positive and open minded, and this energy helps her power through in achieving her goals in life.

'I absolutely love the feeling of reward and gratification in observing my patients' successes while they reach their goals in optimal oral health. I enjoy being a lifelong learner in keeping up with latest technologies and evidence-based best practices. A strong patient education program is the key to long-term success in overall dental health!'

FUN FACT #2:  BETWEEN CATHY, HER HUSBAND AND KIDS, SHE IS THE 2nd SMALLEST & SHORTEST OF THE BUNCH, NEXT TO HER 10 YEAR OLD SON WHO SHE THINKS WILL OUTGROW HER ANY DAY NOW!

We are extremely pleased to have Amanda who joined our dental practice in September 2017. She began her career in the dental field at 15 years old! With experience both clinically and clerically, Amanda has practiced as a Licensed Dental Assistant in a multitude of specialties including general & family dentistry, endodontics (root canals), periodontics (gums and dental implants), until she furthered her education as a registered dental hygienist in 2015. 

Patients enjoy her bright smile, friendliness, calmness and enthusiasm treating every patient with compassion and gentle care. Amanda's philosophies in oral physiotherapy care, preventative dental treatment, and patient education are of the highest level of standard that Pan Dental Care values so greatly. With meticulous hand instrumentation skills, gentle technique and excellent patient rapport, Amanda have developed a strong following of patients who wholeheartedly trust her clinical preventative care.

A native of Saugus, Amanda graduated in 2010 with Honors from the Northeast Metropolitan Regional Technical Vocational High School in Wakefield where she was a High Honors student in the Dental Assisting Program, inducted member of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. 

During freshman year in college, she attended the Southern New Hampshire University and was named to the Presidents List. Amanda then attended Middlesex Community College's Health, Science and Technology Center and graduated in 2015 with Honors in the Associate of Science degree program in Dental Hygiene where she was the recipient of the prestigious Dr. Stephen Stone Educational Scholarship Award. 

A member of the American Dental Hygiene Association (ADHA), Amanda is both a Licensed Dental Assistant and Registered Dental Hygienist. Community involvement includes a heartfelt tribute of volunteering, fundraising, and bike riding 28 miles for Reid's Ride: Charity for a dear family friend who lost his battle to cancer at age 20. All are welcome to join in this meaningful annual fundraiser. 

Living in Stoneham since 2015, Amanda treasured every moment of her wedding in September 2018 with husband Zak! She loves spending quality time with family and friends. 

In addition, Amanda enjoys maintaining a healthy lifestyle through exercising, boxing, spin classes, and outdoor activities especially at the beach in the warm New England weather. Hobbies include gardening, baking and shopping!

'I strive to make my patient's dental cleaning a relaxing and comfortable experience. The smiles on their faces at the end of their appointment are the greatest reward, and it's a constant reminder of why I chose this career! It is extremely rewarding to have a positive impact on someone's life. Dr. Pan's office is such a welcoming environment where a friendly smile and encouragement are always guaranteed! I'm so happy to be a part of such a great team!'

FUN FACT: AMANDA HAS A SUPER GREEN THUMB AND IS AN AVID GARDENER. SHE LOVES HER PERENNIAL FLOWERING PLANTS THAT HAVE ALL THE COLORS OF THE RAINBOW. GORGEOUS!!'

Gabriella is a Dean's List, 2017 Honor graduate, University of New England in Portland, Maine. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene magna cum laude.

A stellar registered dental hygienist at Pan Dental Care since September 2018, she possesses excellent clinical skills in pediatric dentistry, periodontal soft tissue management as well as dental health education keeping patients of all ages well-informed of their oral hygiene care instructions. She keeps up-to-date with advanced hands-on continuing education courses on the latest innovative technologies in oral physiotherapy.  

A lifelong resident of Wakefield, Gabriella graduated from Wakefield High School in 2013, played WHS Varsity Ice Hockey and enjoyed dancing at Dance Track Studio. She loves spending time cooking and baking with her Nonna and Mother making special longtime family recipes that are delicious, wholesome and nutritious. She loves the spring and summer warm weather and enjoys traveling to warm climate especially in the winter months. 

With a steadfast fitness routine, she exercises daily lifting weights, cardio workouts and eats healthy meals. A favorite activity is skating and playing ice hockey.

FUN FACT #2:  GABRIELLA PLAYED COLLEGIATE ICE HOCKEY THROUGHOUT HER FOUR YEARS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND IN MAINE WHILE MAINTAINING HONORS AND DEAN’S LIST EVERY SEMESTER. VERY IMPRESSIVE!!

Wishing Alison a wonderful, exciting retirement with many joyful golden years ahead! 

Alison joined our dental team in 1996 with keen expertise in periodontal tartar detection, periodontics therapeutic maintenance and treatment planning of long-term preventative dental care. A lifelong resident of Melrose, she is a graduate of Melrose High School, Forsyth School for Dental Hygienists in Boston and Northeastern University earning a Bachelor in Health Science degree.

After graduating from Forsyth Dental Institute, Alison received advanced training in oral periodontal hygiene therapy and research methodology with Harvard University School of Dental Medicine's Dr. Sigmund Socransky, a research pioneer and Head of the Periodontal Research Department at Forsyth Dental Institute. She has many years of experience at Harvard's Faculty Periodontology practice as well as being an integral member of periodontal clinical research with world-renowned periodontists.

Having internationally published dental research combining periodontology, immunology, and microbiology, we now understand how the mouth, teeth, and gums are connected to overall general health. Alison is a knowledgeable expert at the forefront of oral physiotherapy techniques, periodontal dental hygiene, comprehensive and preventative treatment.

Alison is now the proud grandmother of five grandchildren. Life does not get any better than hearing the sound of little steps of tiny feet running throughout the house and brushing baby's’ first teeth!!! A lifelong resident of Melrose, Alison cherishes every fun moment with the grandbabies at playgrounds along with four generations of Wetherbee and Marcotti families. Favorite family vacations include trips to Bermuda and skiing in New Hampshire.
