Cerec Technology

No Temporary           No Messy Impressions          One Easy Appointment

CEREC is an advanced dental technology CAD/CAM (computerize aide design and computerize aide manufacturing) that is utilized for the restoration of decayed, cracked, or chipped teeth. CEREC can create full crowns, inlays, onlays, veneers and bridges. The CEREC machine crafts a restoration in a matter of minutes. CEREC restorations are made of compressed porcelain. It is for this reason that they are stronger than laboratory restorations, which are layered porcelain. The most beneficial feature of receiving a CEREC restoration is that it is accomplished in one visit. In addition to the benefit of a one visit restoration, there is no uncomfortable impression material to bite on or temporary to wear.

Procedure

The procedure begins with the removal of all decay and weakened tooth structure. Once the preparation is complete, the dentist coats your tooth with a non-toxic tasteless powder. A camera is then used to take a digital picture of your tooth. This optical impression process takes minutes. Then the Cerec is used to design the restoration. Then the information is sent to a milling machine that is located in the office. About 15 to 20 minutes later you restoration is ready to be bonded in place. The dentist will try in your new restoration to insure a proper fit. Finally the restoration is polished and bonded in the preparation. No temporary restoration is needed. The whole procedure takes about 1 hour and 30 min.
