What Are Dermal Fillers?

What Are Dermal Fillers?

You may not need to go under the knife to battle your age lines. To attain a more youthful appearance many dermatologists recommend dermal fillers, a noninvasive injectable. To find out if you would benefit from the treatment please visit Dr. Yvette Tivoli of Atlantic Derm in Delray Beach, FL.

How Does It Work?

With age, the skin around the face wrinkles and sags due to a decrease in the production of hyaluronic acid and collagen.

Dermal fillers contain this same hyaluronic acid, and as they are injected on the skin they plump it up and help reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

They target the areas around the nose and mouth, the cheeks, and is also used for lip augmentation.

The outpatient procedure requires minimal preparation. Although you may be warned about avoiding alcohol in the weeks leading up to the treatment, and certain medications.

You should also discuss with your doctor what your objectives are for the treatment. As well as discuss with them any allergies you may have, so do get in contact with your Delray Beach doctor.

On the day of the procedure, your doctor will mark the spots on your face that will be treated. Which will then be injected and the area massaged.

The entire process will take about an hour, perhaps less, or a little more, depending on what is being worked on. You may even notice results immediately after, and they can last one or two years.

After the treatment, for at least 24 hours, you will want to avoid alcohol, wearing makeup, intense activities, and exposure to the sun or tanning beds.
