Scratching worsens eczema and thickens skin in the area, so treatment involves relieving a patient’s symptoms. This may mean avoiding known triggers, as well as moisturizing and protecting the skin. Home care may also include wet wrap therapy, which can help rehydrate the skin to enhance the efforts of topical ointments or creams.
