SkinPen Microneedling with PRP for Hair Loss

Hair loss can be an emotionally difficult condition for both men and women.

If you’re noticing bald or thinning patches of hair Dr. Tivoli may recommend PRP injections along with SkinPen microneedling to promote hair growth.

Platelet Rich Plasma is a simple in office procedure in which we draw the patients own blood and then we spin it down to harvest the white blood cells. These cells contain highly concentrated platelets that release growth factors, these growth factors have been shown to stimulate new hair growth and improve the health and texture of existing hair.

SkinPen is the first FDA approved medical grade microneedling device with precise and safe needle depth adjustment. The SkinPen precision needle cartridge used is a sterile, one time use cartridge. The needles puncture the skin and create micro channels which allow the body to produce collagen and cause your hair to regrow.

How long does a single treatment take?

The entire treatment including the preparation of your PRP in the office, cleansing the treatment area, performing SkinPen procedure and injecting PRP solution into the scalp takes less than an hour for most patients.

How many treatments will I need?

For people with thinning hair, we recommend a series of four treatments, performed one month a part for best results. You will need maintenance treatments every 6-12 months thereafter to maintain the results of your PRP hair regeneration treatment.

How soon will I see results from microneedling with PRP?

Within 3 weeks you will notice improvement in hair texture, thickness in the hair shaft and regrowth of hair. It typically takes three to six months from your initial treatment to see measurable results.
