Services

Podiatry is the treatment of disorders of the foot and ankle. Treatments range from conservative care, including orthotics, healing injuries, and preventative diabetic foot care to surgical procedures.  We are pleased to add regenerative medicine to our list of treatment options.  We now offer amniotic mesenchymal stem cell injections for treatments of tendon injures, ankle sprains, and plantar fasciitis.  These injections aid in healing, and often surgery can be avoided.

We offer the complete range of treatments for any foot or ankle disorder.  Below is a listing of the kinds of problems that are encountered and treated at our office.  Click on the underlined disorders to learn more.

Additional Services

Ankle Sprains
Ankle sprains are caused by an unnatural twisting or force on the ankle bones of the foot, often resulting in one or more ligaments on the outside of the ankle to be stretched or torn. If not properly treated, ankle sprains could develop into long-term problems.  In our office, we take x-rays to evaluate the extent of the ankle injury (sometimes MRIs are ordered), and we have everything in our office to treat the ankle sprains, including casts, posterior splints, walking boots, unna boots, immobilization devices, and supportive ankle braces that allow you to return to the game while keeping your ankle protected.  If the problem cannot be treated conservatively, we can surgically repair the injured ankle. Bunions
Bunions occur when the great toe joint becomes dislocated.  Treatment of bunions is focused on realigning the dislocated joint.  If the bunion is mild, conservative care including stretching and orthotics, is often all that is needed.  However, it is imperative that x-rays are taken and the foot is evaluated to prevent the dislocation from progressing, and prevent the great toe joint from being destroyed.  Often the second toe starts to become a hammertoe, and this is the first pain that is recognized.  Do not wait until your bunion becomes painful, because that is when the joint is starting to become destroyed, wearing off the cartilage, and the treatment is much more involved.  We do conservative care and also surgical treatment of bunions. Flat Feet
Flat feet can lead to many problems, including knee, hip, and back pain.  It is important to have x-rays taken of your feet, and have your feet evaluated to determine what your specific needs are.  Treatment for flat feet includes conservative care and surgical reconstruction of the arch and tendon repair, if the tendons are painful and damaged.  It is important to evaluate the foot and receive treatment before damage occurs to tendons and bones. Hammertoes
A hammertoe is a deformity of the second, third or fourth toes. In this condition, the toe is bent at the middle joint, and it can be painful on top of the bend in the toe, and underneath the ball of the foot. Left untreated, hammertoes can become inflexible and require surgery.  We have a variety of supplies in our office to help with the pain of hammertoes. Read More...

Diabetes and Your Feet
We are active in preventing diabetic foot problems, including prevention of amputations.  Diabetics lose feeling in their feet due to long-term high blood sugars (neuropathy), and therefore they may have a wound, a fracture, or other problem without knowing it.  It is important if you have diabetes to see a podiatrist at least once per year if you have no foot problems, and more frequently if you do.  We see many different types of diabetic wounds, and frequently when we first see them, it is too late to save the foot.  Don't wait to see a foot doctor until it is too late! With a diabetic foot, a wound as small as a blister from wearing a shoe that's too tight can cause a lot of damage. Diabetes decreases the immune system, so injuries are slow to heal.  Also, do not let pedicurists cut your nails, a simple toenail infection can lead to an amputation.  Our office cuts toenails, treats neuropathy, heals wounds, and is active in preventing diabetic foot problems. Heel Pain
Not all heel pain is plantar fasciitis or heel spurs.  It is very important to have your heel pain condition diagnosed properly in order to receive the correct treatment.  First, x-rays need to be taken of any foot that has heel pain to rule-out a fracture, bone tumor, or other problem. Some heel pain is due to Achilles tendinitis, or even back pain.  Second, a thorough evaluation of your foot needs to be performed to find the exact problem.  Once your heel pain condition has been diagnosed, it is much easier to decide on a treatment plan.  If you have plantar fasciitis, we have a whole treatment regimen focused on getting you back on your feet quickly, and keeping you active, while getting the heel pain better.  We have heel braces in our office that helps the heel pain the day you visit us, and we provide custom orthotics.  We have written instructions that teach exercises for plantar fasciitis, and inform you what not to do while healing your heel pain.
