Bio: Robert is an independently licensed clinical social worker with over 16 years of experience providing therapy. Robert received his Master’s in Social Work from San Jose State University and is licensed in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He primarily utilizes solution-focused and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) approaches, as he finds these therapeutic interventions to be particularly helpful in allowing clients to accomplish their goals and make important changes in their lives. Clients are at the center of Robert’s therapy; his focus is on them as a person first, followed by their goals and vision for their future. Robert believes strongly that each client is the expert of their own lives. He collaborates with and takes direction from his clients in determining and navigating their own path for therapy. He assists his clients in taking the lead while guiding them to stay focused on their interests, wants, aspirations, and tailoring treatment to their unique needs and circumstances. Unconditional positive regard, compassion, warmth, empathy, and genuineness are fundamental principles that Robert adheres to. Robert enjoys working with adolescents, adults, and couples of all ages, cultures, creeds, religions, and gender identities. He believes that the likelihood of someone following through on suggestions for change and solving problems in their lives is greater if this guidance is found within themselves rather than merely being prescribed by their therapist.

Psychology Today: Hi, I am a licensed independent clinical social worker and therapist with over 27 years of experience. I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and couples of all ages, cultures, creeds, religions, and gender identities. I utilize solution-focused therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) most often in my practice. I find that these approaches are what can best help you accomplish your goals and make the important changes you want in your life. My clients often describe me as warm, empathetic and genuine. As the client, I believe you should be at the center of therapy; this means that I will focus my utmost attention on you as an individual first. Then, we will work together to explore and pursue your goals and vision for your future. I believe strongly that you are the true expert of your own life. I will collaborate with you, listen wholeheartedly to your perspectives, and take your direction so that we can decide together what to focus on in session. I will assist you in taking the lead in determining what you want out of therapy and in life, while guiding you to stay focused on your interests, wants, and aspirations. I will take great care to ensure that therapy is tailored to your unique needs and circumstances. I believe that solving your problems and finding the courage to change works best when you feel safe, are open and honest, and trust your therapist, who can help you to discover these strengths, qualities, and potential within you. I believe in you and will support you every step of the way.
