Tooth-colored Fillings
Instead of traditional silver amalgam, Dr. Jeffus fills cavities with tooth-colored composite resin. This material offers the same benefits as silver fillings, and can stop the spread of decay and strengthen the damaged tooth. However, composite will be carefully selected to match the natural shade of your enamel. Unlike metal, it will not show through your teeth over time. Composite also forms a stronger bond than silver amalgam, providing greater stability to your weakened tooth.
Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers can address several aesthetic concerns in as little as two appointments. Veneers are thin pieces of porcelain that are bonded to the front of one or more teeth. Once in place, they can cover stains, cracks, chips, worn edges, and gaps between teeth. They can even improve the appearance of slightly crooked, proportionately small, or irregularly shaped teeth. During a thorough consultation, he will select the right veneers for your cosmetic goals.
Dental Crowns
Dental crowns are tooth-shaped restorations designed to fully encapsulate damaged teeth. Crowns can reinforce weakened teeth, cover cracks and large fillings, make cosmetic enhancements, and perform several other functions. Dr. Jeffus proudly offers crowns made of the latest materials. For molars, he typically recommends durable zirconia. For teeth at the front of the mouth, he uses IPS e.max® porcelain, widely considered the most lifelike of restorative materials available.
Dental Bridges
Dental bridges can replace one or more missing teeth. Typically, Dr. Jeffus will place crowns on the two teeth adjacent to the space in your smile. These two crowns will support the entire bridge. For greater stability and durability, you may want to consider an implant-supported bridge, held in place by implant posts embedded in the jawbone. No matter which type you choose, your restoration will be custom-crafted. Made of advanced dental porcelain, it will match the shape and color of your surrounding teeth.
Dentures
If you are missing a large number of teeth, you may be a good candidate for a denture. At Jeffus Family Dental, we offer lifelike partial dentures. These restorations replace several adjacent teeth. Like our other restorations, they are made of advanced porcelain to match your smile. Partial dentures, or partials, have a gum-colored plastic base, carefully chosen to blend with your soft tissues. For greater stability, partials clip on to your surrounding teeth with small, carefully hidden metal clasps.
Dental Implants
Implants can support all types of restorations, including crowns, bridges, and dentures. These small, biocompatible titanium posts are surgically placed in your jawbone. During the healing process, they become a permanent foundation for your new restoration. Although Dr. Jeffus does not place implants here in the office, he can refer you to a trusted oral surgeon in the area. After your implant surgery, he can design and place a beautifully crafted restoration. Implant- supported restorations will not slip out of place, and they look extremely natural.
