At Blackwell White Pediatrics, our team consists of experienced, compassionate pediatric practitioners and friendly, nurturing staff members who take pride in giving our young patients the personalized pediatric care that they deserve.

All of our practitioners are highly educated professionals who have undergone rigorous academic and clinical training in pediatrics. We maintain a high level of expertise through continuing education in order to provide the most up-to-date care for the young patients we are privileged to serve.

At Blackwell White Pediatrics, we consider it both a great joy and responsibility to care for children. Most of us are parents ourselves, so we strive to be understanding and available to the families we are privileged to serve.   • Dr. Jacalyn Blackwell-White

    Having decided in second grade to become a pediatrician, Jacalyn Cecelia Blackwell-White is a Baltimore native who graduated from Western High School. She received a BA in psychology from the George Washington University, Washington, DC, followed by a Masters degree in psychology from Austin Peay State University, Clarksville, TN. At a crossroads in her career, Dr. Blackwell-White returned to her childhood dream and attended the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA, from which she graduated in 1984. The next three years were spent in pediatric residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Worcester, MA. In 1987, Dr. Blackwell-White returned to Baltimore with her family to work at Park West Medical Center~n 1990, she started her own pediatric practice. While waiting for her own patient numbers to increase, Dr. Blackwell-White worked at Total Health Care, the Baltimore County Health Department and Sinai Hospital of Baltimore emergency department.

    Dr. Blackwell-White and her associates, Dr. Cheryl Parks and Nurse Practitioner Barnitta Moses understand the importance of education and knowledge. Medical students, pediatric residents and nurse practitioners in training are regularly invited to do externships at this office.

    Dr. Blackwell-White is blessed to have her husband, Clifton White, take care of the administrative side of the office practice. Together they are the proud parents of attorney, Major Candace White Halverson, reserve officer in the US Army JAG Corps, and, veterinarian, Dr. Ayrika White Mfoudi, DVM. The Whites are also 'Pop Pop and Riri', the happy and indulgent grandparents of Spencer and Cecelia Halverson as well as of Frederick and Benjamin Mfoudi.

  • Practitioner Barnitta Moses

    Mrs. Barnitta Latricia Moses is a Baltimore native. At 12 years of age she decided she wanted to become a nurse. She graduated from Edmondson High School and then attended the University of Maryland Baltimore County and the Union Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in 1988. However, she felt limited by the scope of practice of the LPN and decided to attend Union Memorial's Registered Nurse program. She graduated from that program in 1995.

    Mrs Moses then worked in a variety of settings including medical surgery and oncology. She was supervisor and triage nurse at Bons Secours outpatient clinic. She has worked at many area hospitals including Sinai, University of Maryland, Maryland General and Franklin Square. Before joining our practice, she spent 10 years at Mercy Medical Center working in the Mother/ Baby Unit. Because of her extensive work experience Mrs Moses has a vast medical knowledge and her obstetrical and nursery experience particularly enhance her ability to work with new mothers and their newborns.

    During her time at Mercy Hospital, Mrs Moses decided that she wanted to have a larger part in the plan of care for her patients and she decided to enter the advanced practice arena. She received her Bachelors in Nursing from the University of Maryland in 2007. She earned her Master of Science degree from the University of Maryland School of Nursing in 2009 with a certification in Advance Practice Nursing in Pediatric Primary Care.

    Mrs Moses has been practicing as a pediatric nurse practitioner since 2009. She is board certified and is very excited to be able to decide and initiate treatments that she feels best suit her patients and their unique health concerns.

    Mrs Moses is married to Mannie Moses, a minister of the Gospel. She has two daughters, Jennifer Gayle Butler and Janine Latrice Moses. Her pets include 3 dogs and 2 cats. Her oldest daughter is engaged and works as a Quality Assurance Manager for Chimes, Inc. Her youngest daughter is currently training to become a Veterinary Technician. Mrs. Moses interests include attending church with her family, skating, bowling, and spending quality time with her family.

  • Practitioner Sonnie K. Owusu

    Sonnie ( so- knee)Kekulah Owusu is a board- certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner since 2009, who specializes in pediatric primary care. A native New Yorker, Sonnie and her family relocated to Maryland in late 2016. She is a graduate of Villanova University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 2003. After graduation she practiced at the bedside as a pediatric nurse before and during her graduate studies at Hunter College of The City University of New York. At Hunter she obtained a Masters of Science degree in Nursing in the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program in 2008.

    In 2009 she completed a Post- Masters Certificate in Nursing Education which supports one of her many passions. In her spare time Sonnie loves to listen to music, hang out with her family and friends, and dance. She is currently enrolled in the dual degree program at The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing and Carey Business School with anticipated graduation of Spring 2022 in the Executive DNP/ MBA program. Practitioner Owusu is excited to work with our families, and looks forward to becoming a part of your village.
