Dr. Disharoon spent her childhood in the state of Kentucky. She came to Maryland in 1974 to attend the Johns Hopkins School medicine, after graduating from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. After graduation from medical school, she finished her residency in Internal Medicine at the Union Memorial Hospital and is board certified in Internal Medicine.
After residency, Dr. Disharoon opened a solo private practice in primary care near the hospital, where she practiced for 40 years. During that time, she also served as Director of Somatic Medicine at the Gundry Psychiatric Hospital, Medical Director of 3 drug treatment programs, and practiced geriatrics at the Brehms Lane Medical Center for 13 years. She has been on the staff at Union Memorial Hospital and continues to hold courtesy privileges at the hospital. More recently, Dr. Disharoon closed her private practice to join Saluja Medical, doing the primary care medicine that she loves best.
Dr. Disharoon has been married for almost 50 years and has three grown daughters and eight lovely grandchildren. Her time outside of medicine and family is divided between church and Girl Scouting. She is Sunday School Director at Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church and has two Girl Scout troops. She also directs the Girl Scout Chorus, accompanying them with her beloved accordion.
