Dr. Johnny Dong is a board-certified podiatric physician with the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and a board-qualified, fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon recognized by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He practices in Somerset, NJ, providing expert, patient-centered care across the full spectrum of pediatric and adult foot and ankle conditions.

Dr. Dong earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine (Touro College & University System) and completed a three-year surgical residency at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ, where he served as Chief Resident. His residency training emphasized:

  • Charcot foot reconstruction
  • Complex deformity correction
  • Foot and ankle trauma and elective reconstruction
  • Minimally invasive surgical techniques
  • Pediatric foot and ankle pathologies


He also trained alongside plastic and vascular surgeons, gaining advanced experience in soft-tissue management and microvascular techniques.

Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Dong completed a pediatric foot and ankle fellowship at The Pediatric Orthopedic Center in Cedar Knolls, NJ, under Dr. Mark Solomon and his pediatric orthopedic colleagues. His fellowship focused on congenital deformities, growth-plate injuries, sports-related conditions, and pediatric trauma. He subsequently refined his adult reconstructive skills under Dr. Justin Fleming, with a focus on high-energy trauma, revision procedures, complex sports injuries, and total ankle replacement.

As Academic Director for the Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center Podiatry Residency Program, Dr. Dong is actively involved in resident education, surgical training, and curriculum development, mentoring the next generation of foot and ankle surgeons. Fluent in English and Mandarin, he builds strong patient relationships through clear communication, cultural sensitivity, and compassionate care. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family, cooking, and playing racquet sports.
