Dr. Robert P. Thiele

Dr. Robert P. Thiele completed a BA degree in Biology from Arcadia University and earned his podiatric medical degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his residency in Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery at Hoboken University Medical Center, one of the country's top residency programs, where he also served as Chief Resident. He was additionally trained by the team podiatrist of the New Jersey Nets, New Jersey Devils, and New York Football Giants which involved the care of various professional athletes throughout his residency.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. Dr. Thiele served as the Chief of the Podiatry Section, Department of Surgery at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital–Somerset for a total of 13 of the past 25 years. He is an instructor and site director for the RWJ Trinitas Residency Program.  He served as an instructor of Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Podiatric Residency Program at Hoboken University Medical Center and Morristown Podiatric Residency Program.  He has served or continues to serve on various hospital committees at RWJ University Hospital including: the Continuing Medical Education, Operating Room, and serves as the Chair of the Credentialing committee. Dr. Thiele specializes in both the non-operative and surgical management of all foot and ankle conditions, ranging from pediatric to geriatric care, including sports medicine. His expertise ranges from routine foot surgery to more advanced surgical reconstruction of the foot and ankle including, but not limited to, trauma, limb salvage procedures and as well as revision surgery.  He performs surgery at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital–Somerset and the Surgical Center at Cedar Knolls. Dr. Thiele is a co-medical director of a highly trained wound care team at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset Center for Wound Healing. He serves as a Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgeon at the wound care center. This team of wound specialists manages very complicated lower extremity wounds. Dr. Thiele has two board certifications in Foot Surgery and Reconstructive Rear Foot / Ankle Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He has over 25 years of private practice and hospital experience. Dr. Thiele enjoys treating patients like family and is very happy and proud to be a part of this practice.

Dr. Thiele was the first foot and ankle surgeon to bring Minimally Invasive Bunion Surgery to RWJ - Somerset in 2023. He is an expert on this new advanced procedure.

Dr. Prashant H. Bhoola

Dr. Prashant H. Bhoola received his undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the Rochester Institute of Technology and medical degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. He completed his residency in Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Crozer-Keystone Health System near Philadelphia, which is one of the country's leading residency programs. Dr. Bhoola has been trained also by the team podiatrist of the Philadelphia Eagles Football Organization. He teaches foot and ankle surgery to the Podiatric Residents of Morristown Medical Center. He specializes in both the non-operative and surgical management of all foot and ankle conditions, ranging from pediatric to geriatric care, including sports medicine. His expertise ranges from routine foot surgery to more advanced surgical reconstruction of the foot and ankle including, but not limited to trauma, limb salvage and revision surgery. He covers Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital–Somerset and the Surgery Center at Cedar Knolls. Dr. Bhoola manages very complicated patients at the Center for Wound Healing at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital-Somerset. He serves as a Reconstructive Foot and Ankle Surgeon at the wound care center. He is part of a highly selected team that manages very complicated lower extremity wounds. Dr. Bhoola is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and is Board Certified in Foot Surgery by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.  Dr. Bhoola enjoys treating patients like family and is very happy and proud to be a part of this practice.

Dr. Bhoola is an instructor of Foot and Ankle Surgery for the RWJ Trinitas Residency Program. He is now the Chief of Podiatry at RWJ- Somerset. Dr. Bhoola is one of the 1st doctors to perform Minimally Invasive Bunion Surgery at RWJ- Somerset in 2023 and is an expert on this new advanced procedure.

Dr. Johnny Dong, DPM
Pediatric and Adult Fellowship-Trained Foot & Ankle Surgeon

Dr. Johnny Dong is a board-qualified, fellowship-trained foot and ankle surgeon recognized by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. He practices in Somerset, NJ, providing expert, patient-centered care across the full spectrum of foot and ankle disorders.

Dr. Dong earned his medical degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine (Touro College & University System) and completed a three-year surgical residency at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ, where he served as Chief Resident. His residency training included:

  • Charcot foot reconstruction
  • Complex deformity correction
  • Trauma and elective foot/ankle procedures
  • Minimally invasive surgical techniques
  • Pediatric foot and ankle pathologies

He also trained alongside plastic and vascular surgeons to master soft-tissue and microvascular techniques.

Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Dong completed a pediatric foot and ankle fellowship at The Pediatric Orthopedic Center in Cedar Knolls, NJ, with Dr. Mark Solomon and his pediatric orthopedic colleagues, focusing on congenital deformities, growth-plate injuries, sports-related conditions, and pediatric trauma. He then refined his adult reconstructive skills under Dr. Justin Fleming, specializing in high-energy trauma, revision procedures, complex sports injuries, and total ankle replacement.

As Academic Director for Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center Podiatry Residents, Dr. Dong mentors the next generation of surgeons. Fluent in English and Mandarin, he forges strong patient relationships through clear communication and compassionate care. Outside of medicine, he enjoys family time, cooking, and racquet sports.
