Non-Metal Fillings

Cavities can be painful, and they won’t correct themselves. One way to stop tooth decay is to restore the tooth with a filling. In years passed, a filling meant tarnishing a white smile with metal/amalgam. Now, new and improved dental materials allow our doctors to place tooth-colored fillings that blend in with the natural color of your teeth.

If you need a filling, we may use our Waterlase dental laser to prepare your tooth. In many cases, an anesthetic injection is not necessary, because the Waterlase is so gentle and conservative. The doctor will select a small bit of composite resin to match the shade of your tooth. The putty-like material will be placed into your prepared tooth, then hardened with a soft curing light. We will shape and polish your new filling, then make sure that it fits well with your bite.
