Alex Hieronymus

Alex Hieronymus is a proud native of eastern Kentucky. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Kentucky in 2010 and graduated from the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, KY in 2014. Dr. Hieronymus then completed her residency in Pediatrics at the University of Kentucky in 2017. She is board certified in Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Prior to joining PAA part-time in 2022, Dr. Hieronymus served at a federally qualified health center in Lexington for four years. She enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and chocolate lab.

What are your hobbies?

Spending time with family and friends, traveling, finding new restaurants to try, riding roller coasters, hiking, playing games

Advice for expecting parents?

Rest as much as you can. It is important to take for yourself and for you and your significant other.

Advice for new parents?

This season is amazing and challenging at the same time. It goes by very fast, so lean in to all the little moments. Don’t forget to take time for yourself. Sleep when you can. Accept help when available, but also don’t be afraid to set boundaries with (well-intentioned) family and friends if needed. You know your baby best, so trust your instincts if something doesn’t seem right.

Advice for parents of teenagers?

Give them safe space to figure things out for themselves, make mistakes and learn from them. Be there to support them when needed, even when they mess up. Set reasonable expectations and stick to them.
