Hello PAA Families,

The Covid-19 vaccine for children ages 6 months through 4 years of age has been approved!  Therefore, we are now scheduling Covid vaccine clinics for this age group only.

We will be giving the Pfizer Covid vaccine, which is a three dose primary series.  We are offering vaccine clinics on Sundays only and you must have an appointment to receive the vaccine.  You must also be a current PAA patient.

To allow our clinics to run smoothly, you must be available for a set of appointment dates at the same time on each date.  We are currently offering the following options:

1 st dose – July 3 rd

2 nd dose – July 24 th

3 rd dose – September 25 th

OR

1 st dose – July 10 th

2 nd dose – July 31 st

3 rd dose – October 2 nd

For example, if you would like to schedule an appointment on July 3 rd at 3pm, your second dose would need to be July 24 th at 3pm and your third dose on September 25 th at 3pm.

Please call our office at 859.277.6102 to schedule an appointment.

Thank you,

PAA

PAA Families,

It is with mixed emotions that I write these words to let you all know that a wonderful decade for me at PAA will be coming to a close at the end of September, 2022. I came to PAA in 2012 needing a place to practice where I felt like I was part of a team doing work for the greater good, and could use my training and experience to positively impact the lives of children in our area. Thanks to my wonderful physician, nurse and office staff colleagues, as well as each of you, I received what I needed and so much more! So it is with great excitement, but also a touch of sadness that I have to let all of you know that my wife, Denise, and I are starting the next phase of our great adventure together this fall. I know that the first question most of you will have is, “why?” To that, I want to answer simply that the time has come to slow down, enjoy day-to-day life a bit more, and just be a “couple with a dog” for a change. This fall, we will be moving to the Texas Hill Country, going back to the magical place where Denise and I first met over 30 years ago. I want each and every one of you to know that I will miss you, from the now 10 year-olds that took a chance on the new pediatrician at PAA all those years ago, to the brand new families that I have just met in the last few weeks. It has been such a pleasure to see and care for you and your beautiful children, and my sincere wish is that I have done right by each of you and that you and your children are happier and healthier for us knowing one another and growing together. I am indebted to each of you and will never forget you! I wish each of you peace and happiness, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me into your hearts and families over the past 10 years. I also want to reassure you that even though I will no longer be at PAA after September 30, 2022, my wonderful colleagues will continue to provide the outstanding level of care that you have come to expect, and that our practice has been known for since its inception in 1959. Just like me, you made a wise choice to join the physicians, nurses and staff at PAA and you can continue to feel confident that your children are receiving the best care available anywhere!

Sincerely,

Chris Nelson

Hello PAA families,

Since 1959, we have been proud to serve this community and offer medical care to several generations! We truly appreciate the trust you put in us as your child’s pediatric office and would like to thank you for the opportunity.

Life has really changed for everyone over the last few years and we feel like we’ve learned a lot. We want to continue to be here for the needs of our patients but realize we need to offer a more balanced life for our employees and physicians. After much thought and consideration, we have decided to adjust our business hours. Beginning May 1st, we will see patients Monday-Friday until 5:00pm. Because we want to continue to be here for the needs of our patients, we will continue to offer appointments 364 days per year; with limited hours on Saturdays and Sundays.

We truly hope you understand our decision and support our desire to do the right thing for everyone.

Thank you,
PAA

Dr. Theresa Davies, who has been with us since 2016, has taken a position with the University of Kentucky.  We will miss her but wish her the best of luck!  Her last day with us will be Friday, March 25th.

As schools begin returning to in-person classes, we wanted to remind everyone that we are still offering Covid testing at our office!  We have the rapid antigen Covid test, which we typically use for patients with symptoms, and return results the same day (offered based on insurance coverage). We continue to offer the PCR Covid test as well. The PCR is more accurate and may be used for patients who do not have symptoms, as well as patients who do have symptoms. An appointment with a physician is required for either test. The physician will discuss which test would be appropriate for your child, when you should receive results, the specimen collection process and several other items. Testing is typically performed at our main office in the rear parking lot Monday through Friday in the mornings. Once the physician gives you an appointment time, you pull into a parking space noted with a traffic cone. Staff will perform the specimen collection with the patient remaining in their vehicle. Please call our office at 859.277.6102 to schedule an appointment if you feel your child needs to be tested for Covid-19.

We are also able to see your child and fill out the ‘KHSAA Covid-19 Return to Play Form’ if your student athlete has been diagnosed with Covid-19.  Depending on the severity of their illness, we may need to perform an ECG (which we are able to offer in our office).

Please call our office to schedule an appointment once your child has been released from quarantine by the local health department.

*SUNDAY UPDATE * We wanted to let you know about some changes in our office that will effect Sundays.  We will continue to have a physician in the office for acute illnesses but we will no longer have a nurse available to give advice.  The process of getting in touch with the office on a Sunday will remain the same.  You will call the after-hours number and have us paged.  A front office receptionist will return your call and offer you an appointment.  We do have limited hours on Sundays so please call early if you need an appointment.  Because we have limited hours, we are only able to see acute illnesses which cannot wait.  If you need to speak with a nurse only, we will be able to take your information and a nurse will return your call on Monday.
