Medscape (9/10, Kelly) reports that research published in the Annals of Family Medicine suggests that “cutaneous warts in schoolchildren aged 4 to 12 years will resolve within 1 year in about 50% of cases.” The researchers found that “resolution is particularly likely in younger children and in those with nonwhite skin types.” According to the researchers, “Patients and family physicians should weigh the benign natural course, the adverse effects of treatments, and the costs on the one hand, and the effectiveness of treatments and the risk of spreading untreated warts on the other.”
