Echocardiogram

Please wear a comfortable two piece outfit (the top portion of clothing will be removed for test). The exam will take approximately 45 minutes.

Pacemaker Clinic

You will be seeing the pacemaker representative to insure the proper settings of your pacemaker. We will need to know what pacemaker company to schedule you with if you are new to our office.

Treadmill Test

Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Shorts and slacks are appropriate. You will be exercising on a treadmill.

Ladies : No one piece dresses, long line bras, high heels or bras with underwire please.

The exam will take approximately 30-45 minutes. No caffeinated beverages or foods 24 hours prior to exam.

EXAMPLE : coffee, tea, soda, cola or chocolate.

If you are a smoker, please do not smoke 6 hours before exam. Avoid wearing lotions or perfumes. If you are taking any beta-blockers or calcium channel blockers DO NOT take them 24 hours prior to your test . Please ask the office staff for a list of Medications.

Stress Echocardiogram

Please wear loose comfortable clothing (i.e. tee shirt) and shoes. Shorts or slacks are appropriate.

Ladies : No one piece dresses, long line bras, high heels or bras with underwire please.

The exam will take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Nothing to eat or drink after midnight, water is okay. If you have an afternoon appointment you may have a light breakfast (toast, juice, cereal or oatmeal.) No smoking 6-8 hours prior to test. If you are taking any beta-blockers or calcium channel blockers DO NOT take them 24 hours prior to your test . Please ask the office staff for a list of Medications.

Holter-Monitor

Doctor has ordered a 24-hour holter monitor for you. A holter monitor records the electrical activity of your heart for a period of 24 hours. Please DON’T wear any creams, lotions, deodorant or powders on your skin on the day the holter monitor is to be placed on you. Please BRING with you a list of all your medications that you are currently taking, including over-the counter medications. While wearing the holter monitor, please do not shower or bathe with the holter monitor on, or get it wet in any way. Should you have an “event” push the button on top of the monitor and write in your diary book exactly what you were doing at the time of the event. After the holter monitor is worn for the 24-hour period please have the doctor’s office staff remove the holter monitor. Be sure to return the holter monitor diary book.

Trans-Telephonic Monitor

Doctor has ordered a trans-telephonic monitor for you. This is a monitor that records the electrical activity of your heart for a period of up to 30 days. While wearing the monitor, please do not shower or bathe with the monitor on, or get it wet in any way. Should you have an “event” push the record button on the monitor to save the recording. After recording the event, call the number on the device they will instruct you in how to send the recordings. Please DON’T wear any creams, lotions, deodorant or powders on your skin while wearing the device. Full instructions are enclosed with the monitor package along with instructions on returning the device. You will be given a date to return the monitor to the company while at the office.

Nuclear Medicine (Cardiolite)

Please wear loose comfortable clothing (i.e. tee shirt) and shoes. Shorts or slacks are appropriate.

The exam will take approximately 2 ½ to 3 hours. No caffeinated beverages or foods 24 hours prior to exam.
