Their indoor pool has plenty to offer for the whole family, but hopefully one of those offerings is not onychomycosis, otherwise known as toenail fungus. Treating a fungal infection is not as tough as it used to be, but it is still more difficult than contracting toenail fungus in the first place.
Onychomycosis (tinea unguium) is a common fungal infection and it’s easy to catch because it can be found in variety of places. The preferred natural environment is warm, damp, and dark, so indoor pool decks and public locker rooms can be inviting for the fungus until it latches onto someone’s foot or nail.

It doesn’t take much time for a fungal infection to start, but keep in mind that it will definitely take time for your new, healthy nail tissue to grow back. In the meantime, it is important that you take certain measures to prevent reinfection.
When walking in areas where people are frequently barefoot, like locker rooms and pool decks, be sure to wear sandals or shower shoes. Don’t borrow towels, socks, or shoes, as this can lead to fungus being passed along. Wash your feet daily and then dry them thoroughly to avoid having a damp, warm environment that will promote fungal growth.
